  1. The night before my Tufts University interview, the fellow who had volunteered his bed for me, a freshman, had a roommate who is a sophomore. The sophomore‘s German tutor from prep school showed up and the German tutor, his lover, myself, and the second year tough student all went out drinking. This was in Boston and we went over to sports. I remember having Bourbon stingers and stopping bye the flower portion of boston to buy flowers. We got home about 2 AM and I had an 8 AM interview. Needless to say although I was waitlisted I wasn’t admitted to Tufts. I did, however go to MIT so I think I made out OK. Bourbon stingers and stopping bye the flower portion of boston to buy flowers. These days, it’s more likely for me to have a gin and tonic or, if they know how to make them, a proper margarita
  2. It doesn’t post. Could you go to that site and copy the text then paste on this thread?
  3. I think what will really make electric vehicles viable, is the ability to drop you off, go to a faster-than-at-home charging stations get charged and them drive them selves back. self-driving will have to wait until the cars themselves talk to each other, to know where they are and where they are going. This would make self-driving far safer.
  4. Last we heard, he was in lust with another man. Maybe that has made this site superfluous. I won’t suggest the other possibility.
  5. I asked him. He’s never heard of the company. So not him.
  6. Can we get the post numbering back? I go to a thread and I have no idea where I am in it.
  7. Called for Duty twice in 30 years at the same address. First time, I was actually seated in the jury then dismissed. A colleague of mine at work was not only seated, but was foreman. Second time, I went in and was dismissed after a couple of hours. A friend was on a grand jury, once weekly for two years. They were looking at the Big Dig in Boston. She said it was so convoluted that, in two years, they passed no indictments.
  8. Riley Banks. He’s a little funny looking, but he has a sweet innocence. James, from Corbin Fisher. Broad shouldered, well built, great face.
  9. I‘ve PM’d Basketballer a few times but received absolutely no response. At the time of his departure, IIRC, he was in process of meeting a man with an eye towards partnership. I assume he’s lost interest in this Forum. I do not want to think of some of the other possibilities, and would love to hear of his family again.
  10. I will say categorically it is NOT near boston, and definitely NOT MIT, unless you like them über smart, nerdy, and muscled. Some of them, at least.
  11. I was in a good, six-figure job then had a near-fatal orthopedic incident. I was in hospital or rehab for three and a half months, and out of work for six, age 59. i never got back to more than six hours a day. The job was either 7-5 five days a week, or 8-until the work is done. I was demoted and had my salary cut by 40%. But the long-term disability made up some of the difference. In March of the year I would turn 61, my boss told me I was going to be laid off, so I quit on my 61st birthday. Long-term disability kicked in. Social security disability kicked in. I thought I’d cancelled a private disability policy I’d had for 20 years, but I’d only stopped the autopay. That w as an additional $4,000 a month, tax-free. Disability lasted to age 66 or 67, but my investments (403(b), IRA, TIAA-CREF) kept chugging along. I started to withdraw from my accounts, continuing at 70% of what I’d made when working. My first RMD will increase my income by a few thousand. ive had an amazing investment counselor all these years. So, to paraphrase Oscar Wilde, I live entirely for pleasure now.
  12. Yesterday, I tried to make an appointment for a medical procedure. I was on hold for AN HOUR AND TEN MINUTES, and then it went to voice mail. I left a message and got a return call in five minutes.
  13. To FlatEarthers: The Earth can’t be flat. If it were, the Cats would have pushed everything off the edge already.
  14. To my eyes, even with the lights off: no.

  16. Thanks. It could have been “N.P.I.F.”
  17. I flew a fellow into Boston once. We’d never met but had chatted on AOL for five years. It was the second weekend of Brokeback Mountain. I last saw him in 2009. He later met someone in the same medical field as myself. They are now happily married. Long term communication isn’t always the answer. I had gotten into phone conversations with younger fellow for several months and I drove down to Jersey during Thanksgiving. We absolutely failed to hit it off in person. Just an aside: A couple of years ago I went to Australia and New Zealand. I managed to get two First Class tickets on Emirates from Sydney to Christchurch on Credit card points alone.
