  1. My penultimate job was, as an anesthesiologist, evaluating patients preoperatively. I had arranged with one surgeon that, if I had an issue that was important but not urgent, I would write out an email and then send a test to his beeper saying “You’ve got mail.” It didn’t interrupt whatever he was doing (especially if he was operating) and it left a paper trail of what was going on.
  2. Give his accomplice some interest: Rexinging
  3. And the two Steve’s. Draker and the other one from the UK, who was a real guy-next-door type. They used to go at it …
  4. Basketballer. He got incredibly sick with COVID according to his last post.
  5. WHY is this in The Deli?
  6. It’s why they instituted a $10 co-pay at Doctor’s offices.
  7. I prefer the Library of Congress system.
  8. I looked for a long time for speakers for my PC tower. I discovered the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1. It’s THX certified it was $149 on sale at Best Buy. Are use that as the external speakers for my TV via the headphone jack, and they’re really amazing.
  9. I want to order the post prandial serving of Johnny Walker blue. I took one sip said “yuck“ it was going to send it back with the waiter. My dining companion said WAIT, you’re just going to throw it out? The waiter said yeah, so my companion kept it and drank it. Don’t remember if it was on the bill.
  10. I have a pair of Bowers and Wilkins speakers model DM 3000. Four feet high. I love classical music and organ pieces, so they do the job. I had always under powered them, and the 100 watts/channel is really worth the price of admission. of note: sky walker sound uses B&W speakers. a tad pricey at > $30,000/pair but they are glorious.
  11. If you kiss Mike Gaite, it’s definitely a body fluid exchange.
  12. Just a comment about pensions, at least governmental pensions: Massachusetts eschews double-dipping, so they reduce your state pension dollar-for-dollar if you also receive Social Security. Through a state-supported loophole involving a merger of a public hospital and a private one, I was able to take my money and run. So no state pension, and I’m sure I’m making more on it now than I would if I took the pension.
  13. DO NOT USE MUTUAL FUNDS Why would you think the fund manager can out perform the market. And the fees are ridiculous. Stick with ETF.
  14. My financial guy said, in 1984: ” You don’t have a lot of money now, but you will, and it’s my job to make sure that happens.” I retired in 2012 (on disability for five years) and even living somewhat fancied, I can’t run out of money.
  15. The main differential diagnosis for sciatica is piriformis syndrome. Piriformis syndrome Completely different malady with different treatment. Epidural steroids should be given as a planned pair, with the second one given two weeks after the first, even if no efficacy from the first shot. Some people will get relief on #2. If so, a third shot should be considered. Of course, this is along with home excercise and physical therapy to make sure you’re doing the exercises correctly. long retired anesthesiologist here with a fellowship in pain management.
  16. I had hoped that this was a post from @tyro a.k.a. “Salty broad”. She was dealing with an extremely nasty cancer. perhaps a PM will draw her out?
  17. I’ve sent several PMs without response. I think he and his boyfriend may have gotten serious. I just hope he and his kids are all ok.
  18. I wish I had an experience with him. Just my type!
  19. A. Cooper could always entangle it so his sin couldn’t receive it until age 60 or so … not have to worry about retirement, but still have to work for a living.
  20. I’m in process of getting mine treated. Somethings I’ve learned along the way: brachytherapy has more side effects than surgery radiation therapy has the same survival rates as surgery stereotactic radiotherapy is much shorter (five days instead of six weeks) compared to external beam therapy, but is still considered experimental and side effects are showing up at 2-5 years robotic surgery is probably better than the traditional radical retropubic prostatectomy. One or two night admission cryotherapy really isn’t used In case of recurrence, radiation therapy makes surgery almost absolutely impossible and can’t be repeated. So if your young, you might want to opt for surgery. At my age, something else will kill me first have a team: medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, and a urologist. In my case, a missed diagnosis of moderate pulmonary hypertension was discovered and makes robotic surgery very risky for me (I’m a physician and I looked up the data). One radiation oncologist said I wasn’t a candidate for radiation therapy due to bilateral hip replacements, but Massachusetts General Hospital said they do it all the time. Oddly enough, a friend went there and was referred by the MGH radiation therapist to BIDeaconess, where he had his stereotactic radiation. Harvard is so weird. Feel free to PM me if there are any questions.
