  1. Cooper, you are a truly nice person. Happy Birthday.
  2. Ah, I do not need any more likes. If I was impressed with likes I would be posted somewhere else here.
  3. And you only mentioned part of @Charlie's post. The part you liked.
  4. Why did you mention Israel? More to the point, who are you really? The word Avalon suggests an island near Long Beach where Natalie Wood died - nice play, whomever you are really.
  5. Embassy in Israel, but not Asia, Africa, South America or anywhere else in the Middle East?
  6. Not if you exclude Texas, California and other western states. The U.S. military would have been much weaker in World War Two. Significant political figures like Earl Warren and LBJ would live in another country. Pure nightmare with a bit snob appeal to some historians.
  7. Rather than the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force. I was drafted and served in the Army. I hated it. But, I at least can tell you directly you have no idea what you are writing about.
  8. Completely agree, but you need to know langages other English --French perhaps -- unless your study only includes countries that use mainly the English language.
  9. You know very well that Russia was an ally during World War ll. And FDR wanted Russia help against Japan at Yalta. One can argue Roosevelt was wrong
  10. Tolstoy's War and Peace is not just the punchline of a joke. It is an interesting novel about Napoleon in Russia. The is taught in several Ivy League universities, so your snob rating is not in danger.
  11. Premier Escort closed. So the escort scene is less robust in Philadelphia now. I hire much less often, mostly traveling guys.
  12. Talk shows occasional have audience members who attend every show. In the the 1960s, the most well known was "Mrs. Miller." After our senoir prom in high school, we went to small local night club. The perfomer was someone who became famous on "The Tonight Show." I could not believe "Mrs. Miller" was there also.
  13. Me also, until I was a junior in college. Luckily, he also taught a two-semester German history course the next year when I was a senior. By accident, we both lived in the same Massachusetts town.
  14. I had several excellent history teachers as well, more in Euopean history than American. But, I was a political science major, so especially remember the seminar I took at Penn State on the U.S. presidency.
  15. I might have put Keanu Reeves on this list if had not seen his band Dogstar several times years ago. He is much better looking in person.
  16. I live in Philadelphia, and mostly like the city. But, please consider Louisville as well.
  17. This is Florez's first opera at the Met in three/four years. Earlier he sang at the Met almost every year. Glad he is finally back.
  18. There are some parts of Philadelphia that a bit more dangerous, including near the University of Pennsylvania in West Philadelphia.
  19. Rather than start a new thread: So far my only selection from MET Opera this upcoming season is Juan Diege Florez in La Traviata.
  20. I saw Ryan Idol in an off-Broadway play. A first-rate con artist and just ok actor.
  21. Forgot to mention the house where Garbo was born in Stockholm is now in a quite wealty neighborhood.
  22. Garbo was not always alone, yet she would never comment on a brief scene in a porn film. When she died in 1980, Garbo was buried in Stockholm, not the United States.
  23. I saw "Funny Girl," and Steisand's other musical, "I can get for you Wholesale" before the cast albums were released. The same thing happened with " Hamilton," so I am a bit confused why I did not like "Hamilton." Perhaps I missed the details only possible in a long book.
  24. As you know, I live in Philadelpia. So I was aware of many locations when Hamilton served at Valley Forge and later in Washington's cabinet. I missed that connection in the musical.
  25. Please ignore @Avalon, who is a huge fan of Wikipedia. The Hamilton bio I mentioned is by Ron Chernow.
