  1. My mother was the youngest of eight children. I have great memories of all of her siblings and their spouses. Her brother (two years older) and his wife couldn't have kids I miss them almost as much as my parents. Very much regret not telling that Aunt and Uncle. What was I thinking?
  2. Again I received a visa through a tour company in 2005 even though I was going on my own. Do not try for a visa without doing extension research
  3. Mrs. Roosevelt's doctors were tragically divided in 1962 as to whether or not she had a fatal blood disease. Sad Most likely Eleanor Roosevelt died from TB As @marylander1940 too often says, "back to subject"
  4. I flew to St. Petersburg in 2005 and stayed for a week during the White Nights in June Back then I was able to obtain a visa through a tour company even though I was not going on a tour. Not sure if still possible. There is no reason why one can not buy a plane ticket with a visa and just go. Moscow and St. Petersburg might be too little for only 10 days
  5. Very sorry, @Unicorn
  6. Don't forget this site in your will, @marylander1940. You have greatly benefited from Daddy's
  7. Why not spend ten days in St. Petersburg, rather than just two and really get to know the city. Stockholm is worth 10 days as well. With 10 days in Stockholm you get to know the neighborhoods and some of the residents
  8. My dad installed a telephone in Davis' house in New Hampshire. She was the definition of New England.
  9. My parents had many siblings, but with two exceptions they were older than my parents. I could talk to one of my aunts. But she was born in the same Massachusetts city as Bette Davis - and almost on the same day and year. Lowell, Massachusetts
  10. Lucy was so upset she agreed to star in a Broadway musical - "Wildcat.". She even sang "Hey, Look Me Over!" Live on The Ed Sullivan Show. Amazing
  11. I greatly miss the gear. shift on the floor. In a Jeep and VW
  12. I completely agree about Victoria Vancouver Island. On Brazil, on my first trip there in 1974, I saw and heard the great Baden Powell perform in a small club. Guitar and single
  13. Luckily the great Willie Mays is still with us and living in Rancho Mirage California
  14. My brother Rick lives near the East entrance to Yellowstone National Park. There are several motels there as well, perfect for tourists who want an early start in the park.. Gardner at the West entrance has motels also. My brother writes about the wolves of Yellowstone. His first book included an introduction by Robert Redford
  15. Yes, I did know that. Thanks so much for such an interesting post. Much appreciated
  16. My aunt and also my fifth grade teacher lived to 100. Bless them, but I don't want to live beyond 84
