I advise Airbnb with no hesitations. There are many safe areas in the city, I would choose the location depending on personal circumstances. For instance, when I traveled during the pandemic I rented in Recreio dos Bandeirantes. In the rest of my trips, I rented in Copacabana, close to my favorite GP sauna.
