First and foremost, thank you MrMiniver for starting this thread. I had never heard of this site and after reading the the earlier posts I decided to sign up for it in December and try it out.
 
I have been very honest with everyone I have chatted with on the site, making it very clear that I have no intention of paying anyone an allowance just to go out with me. If that's what they're looking for, I have nothing but best wishes in their finding it, but it isn't going to be from me. On the other hand, I'm happy to pay for everything on our dates, which could end up being a cruise or even a trip overseas (I love to travel), but I'm not supporting them, unless our dates lead to a LTR.
 
I very quickly found someone who seemed interesting and we chatted for about three weeks before we finally met (I told him I couldn't meet until after the New year because of the holidays and family visiting from overseas). It's been two months now and the only thing that would make me happier would be if we could see more of each other. We are both busy and he lives near downtown LA and I live in what's called the South Bay (it took me two hours to get to his house on Valentine's Day). He's young, tall, handsome, and just as nice as can be. And he's never asked me for a dime. He struggles a bit, and I have offered to help a bit, but he's never made that a condition of our relationship.
 
I've waded through many guys on the site as the rest of you have, but, in L.A. at least, there are some out there looking for the same thing I am. Even if the current relationship ends, I count the site a success.

I've met with a few dozen guys already, so I hardly think there is a majority of fake profiles. I have encountered a small percentage who seem to give an unusually short bit of "interest" and never answer back.

I began looking on SA because I wanted something regular with someone I had some chemistry with and I was getting weary of the treadmill of mass-production escort experiences.
 
If you want to look at it on a purely financial basis, if I'd paid escorts for the overnights and evenings I'd spent with SA guys it would have been massively more than any subscription fees could ever be. But, that's really not the point for me.

Dunno - maybe so. Everyone I've met has been as their photos show. I still chat with 3 guys I actually met face-to-face but there was no romantic chemistry.

There are guys I'm not interested in, and I've made it clear, who still send me these.

I've met face-to-face a handful guys who've done this and doubt the messages are faked, though the persistence can be annoying. And I've never been catfished - I vet guys pretty thoroughly before I given them a unique burner number to text me. Pretty much everyone I've met has been just as they describe and their photos depict.
 
All that said, it is an interesting thought... a staff of interns who are paid to do nothing more than front fake profiles and send these stock messages. What a job; I hope these stay Amerikan.

[uSER=12155]@Dominiking[/uSER] It's never happened to me so I have no idea what I would do. I imagine most people wouldn't be bold enough to just say they aren't going to pay to your face. They are more likely to use tricks to get out of it (bad checks, stacks filled with ones, empty envelope, etc.), or run off (smoke break, going to the ATM, going to the bathroom, etc.) At that point there is not really much you can do and people like that generally aren't worth dealing with any longer than you have to, I would just leave. Violence or revenge will probably just come back to hurt you too in the end.

There is a grit to our fair city, but we New Orleans' natives may disagree a bit on characterizing our city as a dump. Get out of the Quarter - no one from NOLA really ever goes to the Vieux Carre except for the odd special occasion - sort of like visiting a zoo to see drunk tourist. Visit the Faubourg Marigny, along some of the side streets to Frenchman Street you will find some of the best jazz clubs in the world. Some of the best restaurants in the US are in the Lower Garden district and two or three have opened in the Warehouse District have appeared in a couple of national food magazines. Take the street car to Audubon Park and then take a stroll through Tulane on a nice sunny day and take in all the gorgeous boys..... NOLA has a lot to offer. Escorts, not so much. Grindr, however......
