Stasoxxx69 got a reaction from Occasional in Tipping - if so, and how much?
I don't believe we should have to tip masseurs or escorts when they are setting their own rate. Tips are for places of business like a massage spa where the service person is only getting a cut of what you pay the spa...then you tip. If someone is working for themselves, they set their own rate. I only tip if our interaction exceeds what is stated in the service description for example, if a masseur says both nude and release, but we end up doing more like oral or fucking, then I will just give him an extra $50 to $100. I've noticed that a lot of asian masseurs when they come to my apartment for massage they ask for tips and I have to explain to them how it works. A lot of them come from working in massage parlors.

I've only ever gotten an exceptional massage from Jay, he really knows what he is doing. He is gorgeous and his body is perfection, and in my experience the extra curricular was hot af.

I understand the compulsive feeling to hire, but at least with straight up escorts, I have always found those experiences to not live up to what's in my head going into them. If you are trying to stop, my best advice is to to think it through...how are you feeling leading up to the idea to hire? how are you going to feel after you hire? when do you tend to want to hire? Is there a patter there? If yes, another thing to do is replace the behavior with something else, so if Friday nights tend to be triggering for you and lead to hiring, find something else to do that isn't congruent with hiring. I think the struggle for me is the need to hire for massage. Over the years I have felt less sexual about massages, though I still partake in sexual interactions when they seem right, but mostly it's because we're all human beings and we need to be touched. If I'm in a dry spell and not hooking up or dating someone, it can be weeks without any real intimate human contact, this isn't healthy either.

If you book Rainer, use Rentmasseur. He’s younger there than on Rentmen.

I had a mixed experience with Rainer. Admittedly, it was a few years ago, just as the shut down was ending, and he was in NYC in August. I hadn't had any physical contact in a while due to the pandemic and he was staying in my neighborhood. I was extremely anxious upon my arrival and he was very sweet about it. He massaged me for a few and then upsold me to the $300 service, which, if you have seen his profile on rentmasseur or rentmen, you can venture a guess what we ended up doing. The thing that got weird was when it was all over and I went to pay using venmo, like most masseurs accept, he told me it was cash only. This is not listed on his profile, even still now in 2026, so I'm not sure if he is still cash only or not, but I would recommend getting clear on that prior to your appointment. When I told him I didn't have cash, he got a bit irritable with me as if I was supposed to know this; we then had to leave together and go to an ATM which was not my bank and charged me a some ridiculous fee. The walk there was awkward, to say the least. SO, I'm not sure if his massage is any good as we cut to other things pretty quickly....and that was very hot, it was also what I think I needed after being in my apartment for several months during the covid shutdown. Also, to be fair, he was also just coming out of that shared experience, so I want to be clear that it may be he was working through his own experience and anxiety. Give him a try, he's hot, he's licensed, and if you want more, you can get more. Just have the cash on hand.

I've seen Wen and he is fantastic. A serious and certified massage therapist who also provides acupuncture services. Great heated table. The massage was excellent and not sensual. He's very sweet and attractive but I didn't get a vibe that he provides any services beyond therapeutic. If you are looking for real massage work, you can't go wrong with him.

When you guys say you had a good experience w someone, why don’t you include a description — tall/short, muscular/twink, ethnicity, etc., etc., etc.?!?!?! The same info you’d probably like to know. It seems sooooooooo obvious that you should do this. Esp for the spas that do t post pics of their masseurs. #wtf

My parents owned a hair salon, so growing up I was told you don't tip the owner of a business, but you tip the service team because they are maybe renting the chair, etc. I apply that to massage. When I go to a spa, I understand that you are paying the spa for the 60 or 90 minutes, the masseur is getting paid an hourly rate, therefore you tip the masseur at the spa. But if someone is working for themselves they can just set their own rates accordingly. This is why it seemed a bit brazen for him to turn around and ask me for a tip on top of a nearly $500 massage.

Had a session with Maxxnum the other night at my apartment. The massage was very good and very sensual without prompting as far as what he initiated towards me during the massage of the lower back and butt area. But he needed some prompting to take his underwear off. He claims to be straight but he was aroused and kind of had a bi/gay vibe but I suppose I shouldn't generalize. The massage, in my opinion was expensive, 75 minutes at $450, that felt very high to me based on average NYC licensed massage rates, I was like "dude, this is a quarter of my rent." I would stick with the 60 minute which based on my 75 minute massage, would suffice. The only real negative is that upon payment he asked for a tip. I went ahead and gave him $40 extra because I didn't want to create a confrontational situation after such a nice massage, but did explain to him that it's not customary to tip for in-home massage, whether it is at the client's apartment or the masseur's apartment. Anyway, am I right that tipping outside of a spa environment should be unnecessary, just set your rate for what you want and keep it simple. Also, when in home massage is taking place it's not like the masseur has to share a cut of the massage fee with a business.
