Keep in mind that the transmission of a text message can be delayed for various reasons. The carrier (phone company) might not have successfully sent it or the sender lost reception; either way, the message can get delivered much later than when "sent". Text messages can result in real problems, especially when someone proposes a change and gets angry upon arrival because they assumed an agreement exists without receiving an explicit "OK" text response. This is an advantage of a phone conversation - it's real-time and two-way.

I once had the following experience. I sent a text to two recommended providers which was descriptive of myself and what I was looking for; you know, some variant on old man wants to enjoy the company of a hot younger man. I politely asked for a response even if they were declining so I could look elsewhere. After about four hours, I got suspicious and tried a naughty experiment. I sent both providers another text from another number with a different scenario: a guy roughly their age with nice stats wants to enjoy their company. I got a response from both in about 15 minutes. I put both on my no-no list. I suppose folks will object to my experiment, but it was educational.
