Aaaahhhh, but the law is a very technical thing. Remember, those making porn (actors, writers, producers, etc) all get to discuss erotic massages, role play, genitals, the exchanging of tabs and slots, the exchangeof money, and virtually anything sexual well within the confines of the law.
Simply hiring for a massage, is just as legal as hiring an actor to be in a porn with you. The 2 basic search tabs in rentmen are MASSEURS and PORNSTARS. And, if I recall correctly, one of the providers on here said that rentmen refers to the providers as ACTORS. There's a reason for that. I am willing to bet the website paid a legal professional to come up with that, not a marketing firm.
There used to be provider on the west coast that advertised on Craigslist and explicity listed the sex acts he would perform with you when he made a porn with you.
And remember, there are 3 basic recognized types of porn: 1) written word (stories) ; 2) visual (pics, paintings, videos) and 3) auditory (recorded sounds and words).

you’re right on all of the above.  But, I think for most it’s a risk calculation to get what you want without going through massage process.  for zero risk, then go the massage route & take it from there.  If booking with a known or referred  provider, then probably almost zero risk.  For unknowns, then I suppose there is some small risk depending on location and if this is on someone’s radar…..probably not.
while the subject of recordings & blackmail comes up from time to time here - overall, the chances are very low to zero that would happen. Again, this goes to how you select people to hire.  Always do some sort of vetting - either very well reviewed, direct referrals, a known person on OF/Twitter/IG or similar.
The real risk is hiring unknown people with no reviews or vetting & allowing them into your home. Letting any stranger know where you live is kind of nuts these days. I wouldn’t do it

I remember several years ago, a client claimed to always give an arriving provider a big sloppy long full-on kiss immediately upon his arrival.....it was his method of confirming the provider was not undercover......

Just never say anything that translates to "I'll pay you money for sex" and most legal problems are gone. Also, few cops are willing to French kiss for a collar.
Like they said, the main problem is fraudulent providers. Do due diligence. That's what The Deli section is.

you may want to consider using a Burner app on your phone for this hobby to keep your personal number separate......also, only pay cash and never pay a deposit......politely inform the provider that you'll pay at the end, that you don't want to discuss money during the meet, and get an 'ok' from them on these......never discuss sex and money in the same conversation.......and you may not want to use your own home for a meet (get a hotel room or go to his place if he allows)
please look over this forum for other hints and threads on safety......rentmen is almost the only game in the US and is usually fine to use.....the greater problem is fraudulent profiles there....and making sure you click with a potential provider during the in-person meet......

On a serious note, in almost five year of pursuing this hobby - using primarily Rent.men in at least four countries - we've never had a legal issue. We do what @pubic_assistance and @BuffaloKyle have suggested, which is stick guys who are well-reviewed and have been mentioned on here. Occasionally, someone will not have been discussed here, but if they have what seems like a lot of legitimate reviews on RM, we'll go ahead. We've had a couple of duds but overall our experiences have been good to great.

If you want to be more assured that you are contacting an actual escort versus a con-man or, worse, law enforcement that has set up a sting operation, then as BuffaloKyle suggested above stick with guys who are known on this site to have a good reputation.  If you reach out to someone who has no feedback, then you are taking a bigger risk -- a bigger risk of contacting someone who just wants your money and doesn't intend to provide any service than actually getting caught up with the law.  There have been stories of sting operations in some areas, though, so if you're not sure about the police where you live then be extra cautious by hiring known providers.
There is a way to discuss wanting something more than a therapeutic massage without getting too explicit, but I don't think there's much of a risk of having a frank discussion if you are contacting a known provider.  Personally I would rather do that on the phone so there isn't anything in writing -- just in case.

While true in theory, nothing is more difficult than trying to give a massage, and someone expecting more without talking about it beforehand.
Or hiring a provider, they offer something you aren’t looking for (or the opposite).
    or not bringing enough money.
nothing is worse than trying to provide something for someone and they don’t communicate what they want.

The question was about the legality of requesting sexual favors.
DISCUSSING SEX for $$$ is technically ILLEGAL
The only way around that is to MEET first and discuss IN PRIVATE.
Plus ...personally I never know IF I want to have sex with someone until Ive met them...so this format is my standard way of doing business.
Depending on the provider there is often an upsell at some point and I will either extend the session or book another one...but I don't discuss prostitution with providers over the phone or internet.

I thought erotic massages or anything to do with genitalia area / happy endings are illegal in USA except some parts of Vegas.

    Correct.
Which is why I always recommend hiring someone for an erotic massage. That's not illegal. If sex is available then that might be discussed IN PRIVATE between two consenting adults. Which is also not illegal.
Plus ..in my opinion I don't know IF I WANT to have sex with someone until I've met them first. So booking a massage first is a great introduction to possibilities.

Usually when people are looking to hire providers, they are assuming those that list on that site.

It is the premiere site to advertise and hire from. If you’re worried about the validity of the .men domain, you can use the other - Rentmen.eu (or rentmen.com which should redirect to rentmen.eu) but they’re basically the same site.

I'm assuming @vaharo6805 you're from the USA? Technically if you're hiring a guy on rentmen for sex it's illegal. But it happens nonstop everyday and the amount of providers & clients that get in trouble with the law is probably less than 1%. The best thing to do if you're wanting to hire someone on there is to do a search on the forum here to see that they are legit and they deliver a good experience.
