  2. Maybe, @Gar1eth . You'll just have to be all masculine devil-may-care about it.

  4. PETA gets Superbowl ads "censored" every year. Everyone loves banned ads on YT.. Here's one from a few years ago.
  5. I'm currently in a different part of Charlie's state. According to gasbuddy, $2.45 is the lowest price for unleaded regular in the immediate area.
  6. Eichmann in Jerusalem, Hannah Arendt Putting aside her oft-misunderstood banality of evil thesis: Eichmann's defense was ripe for mockery, and Arendt makes the most of it. http://platypus1917.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/arendt_eichmanninjerusalem.pdf
  7. Er, guys, have you read my posts? I understand as well as anyone how men are wired. In fact, I just liked a post that said, in full, "the dick wants what it wants." While looks come first, attraction is driven by lots of idiosyncratic factors that come from early experiences. For example, straight men look for partners that resemble their mothers. Yes, that has actually been shown. I wouldn't be surprised if gay men have some version of this too.
  8. Tonyko, you assume that one can only be genuinely attracted to hotness and youth, and everything else is forced in order to obtain $ome benefit. And are you talking about men only here? Guys are indeed wired to value those things, but haven't you met guys who are also genuinely turned on by fame, sexual experience, musical talent or whatever? Also, the 34 to 74 example is extreme. How about 34 to 50? And that's just men. For the other half of the world, it's a completely different ball of, er, fluff.
  9. Why is attraction based on looks more valid than attraction that based on fame, status, power, or whatever? They're two sides of the same coin. Sic transit gloria mundi.
  10. I like the idea of someone who keeps the kitten iced and furred so "so ill always be straight." If that's you, you have Fluffy's word: I'll stay as straight as an arrow. I did consider robbing you, but my morals wouldn't allow it.
  11. Yes, I saw that. But I was speaking to the "sucking up all the rays" concern.
  12. From the first article posted, it sounds like "sucking up all the energy from the sun" is a clumsy way of expressing concern about glare from the the solar panels and the possible increase in UV radiat'n resulting from that. I'm no optics expert, but complaints about glare from neighbors' solar panels are pretty common in some neighborhoods. If anyone wishes to debunk this concern, I'm happy to listen.
  13. I'm not sure if you're right or wrong, but I love your username.
  14. Having a continuous show of American Apparel models outside my window wouldn't do much for me. http://knotoryus.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/17.jpg Now these guys, on the other hand.. (Of course, I'm referring to the two men on the right. The rest are just there to prove that the men are appropriately virile.) http://www.retro-housewife.com/images/men/2000/2008/generations-of-style-brooks-brothers-sept-2008.jpg
  15. I think these reviewers are expecting too much of Hollywood. Many movie and television shows about minority groups (African Americans, Jews, Hispanics) typically feature stars with cookie cutter, WASP-y features. Tonyko can chime in, but I assume that's so a middle America audience can identify with the character. Even HBO's the Normal Heart starred Mark Ruffalo. The movie may be terrible, but that's a different issue.
  16. You wear Gucci suits and shoes, and you're complaining about drawing women? My (mostly secondhand) impression is that being an out gay man is challenging in some "macho" professions but that a lot depends on the organization.
  17. Vanity fair calls it offensive and offensively terrible. http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2015/09/stonewall-review-roland-emmerich
  18. Interesting movie. Too bad they're painting the Mattachine Society as villains.

  20. Yoda uses an inverted sentence structure.
  21. Thanks again, everyone, for the help. I finally made it to the ENT, who did the necessary exam and found nothing. He said the issue is mysterious, but came up with a possible cause. He ordered an MRI, which I can do if the issue continues. I'll probably let this go for now..
  22. I think it's a satire of the controversy over teaching evolution in schools.
  23. Uh huh. It might be less painful if she were one of those hot brunettes you're so fond of... http://www.laylagrayce.com/thumb.aspx?size=400&path=images%2FKashwere%2Fkashwere_KASHR0101alt3.jpg
  24. Every peer needs to put in time as a nobody before he can be a good king. I learned that from an Ally Sheedy movie.
  25. As promised, here is my not very dramatic update: The doctor asked some excellent questions, used the tongue depressor, and then told me he had never heard of anything like what I described. I have to give him credit though: He said it didn't sound like muscle tension due to stress either. He referred me to an ENT who can do a more appropriate test, which will probably be that barium swallow thing. While I'm glad it's nothing serious so far, waiting in doctors' offices is going to get old fast. The health plan nurses? I though their main purpose was to keep people from coming in with colds and other complaints that don't require a doctor.
