  1. Charlie - Traditional economic view would probably support your decision....holds that if you would be paying more in interest than you could recognize in earnings from those funds, it makes economic sense to forego the debt....going back to my econ class days....Not to mention that you didn't go through the loan application process followed by the need to make the scheduled payments on an ongoing basis...

  2. Just logged in this morning, and, per usual, clicked on the Unread Forum Content button....and to my surprise, absolutely nothing came up.  When I went to the individual forums there were indeed new postings which I had not read.  What happened to the "Unread Forum Content" button functionality?

  3. I contacted him a little over a year ago to inquire about flying him in for a weekend visit.  Before the discussion could even begin he informed me, without voice communication, that he would need to have the names of  recent hires who were still advertising (I guess to contact for references?) or basically full prepayment of most of his honorarium in advance....in spite of the fact that I would be paying for the airfare up front.  I had been prepared, after an anticipated discussion of rates and dates and a little chit chat,  to set up an appointment since he seemed to have the look and presentation that appeals to me.  I told him that some of my hires had retired, although were still available, etc, and that I felt it in bad form to request information he might not want released if he was a recent hire.  Had to wonder if he would be ok if his name and contact info were released.   I have never cheated, misused or not totally respected any hire in over 20 years....and felt a little, no, a lot, insulted.  Not only did I not pursue hiring this handsome lad, I have not hired period since that attempt.  Guess maybe I should thank him for saving me money....
