2026 marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of route 66 as an official federal highway and many celebrations are occurring this year between Chicago and Santa Monica.....the TV theme from "Route 66" is, of course, legendary....the show ran from 1960-1964, following the adventures of Buz and Tod as they worked odd jobs and met quirky characters each week......regrettably, this scene has them driving old route 40 over Donner Pass above Donner Lake.....George Maharis was released from the show in 1963 when, in part, producers found out he was gay.....

I missed seeing many of the old timey places like Gaiety et al, but did get to check out Nob Hill Theater before it closed. Quite a scene. And just a block or two from the priceless real estate of Nob Hill.
