  1. There are providers that will come to your house for this, and not necessarily super expensive. I had a hairdresser come to the house when my wheelchair-bound sister lived with me.
  2. You can often find some real bargains for this kind of stuff on Ebay, as when the user passes the family has no use for it. My next door neighbors got a barely-used secondhand power wheelchair for only $200. It would have been several thousand new.
  3. There are bagels everywhere but there aren't GOOD bagels everywhere. I'm from the NYC area and when I lived in Reno NV I was appalled. I think the altitude affects how they come out there.
  4. Well keep in mind men dying young tended to be from heart disease, which medicine today has a FAR better handle on than in the past. My uncle had a heart attack at 55 and is still alive at eighty-seven.
  5. All over the place. Some have died suddenly at 18 or 21, others made it to 90s. Supposedly a great aunt made it to 108 back before so many people made it to 100.
  6. Several of the Wayans brothers...
  7. I'm really getting tired of the back-and-forth style of storytelling. Seems like they're just trying to save on shooting costs. They can reuse the same clips over and over.
  8. I was working my hardest to project an "asexual" vibe back then. Deep in the closet, hadn't done anything yet.
  9. If you have to say, "I am alpha..." chances are you're not. I couldn't get past his voice. Turned off video after ten seconds.
  10. That's all well and good in theory, but the fact remains that there are plenty of kids who can work up the nerve to have sex with someone but are not yet confident enough to face the store clerk. And statistically speaking, they're unlikely to let the latter problem prevent them from engaging in the former. So if you are someone who is invested in that individual's life outcomes, you might prefer they have the condoms available. When I was in college I worked as a clerk in the camps pharmacy. Many times female students who knew me would walk into the pharmacy, see me at the counter, and walk right back out. I would ask the pharmacists to give me some work in the back to do to make sure they would get their birth control prescriptions filled.
  11. Well if she's 22 it's possible he's closer in age to her parents than to her. It's a relative thing.
  12. He was also Carla's baby daddy on Cheers, wasn't he?
  13. She had already cancelled her SNL appearance so I'm guessing it was already over and this was him milking one last bit out of it.
  14. Avalon, PLEASE talk to your doctor about getting a physical therapist to come to your home and train you both in use of the Walker and home exercises you can do with it. Physical therapy is leaps and bounds better than it was 20 years ago and you can probably see much more improvement in your mobility and strength than you think. Three years ago I could barely walk for ten minutes due to back issues. Today I can jog over half an hour. But the improvement was extremely gradual. Six months in, I didn't really feel much better. Even if you only improve one percent a week, in a year or two that will be substantial.
  15. This. SNL did a skit once where she mimicked half a dozen other singers and she nailed it.
  16. Maybe they have more...um...volunteers?
  17. When they've done actual studies, IIRC, they've found women do just abut as much in terms of space-hogging on the subway as men do. Women put bags on seats, wrap themselves around poles, etc.
  18. Dammit I'm 47
  19. You wrote to someone you weren't hiring to pick at his grammar? What reaction did you expect?
  20. Seems his Rentmen ad has expired. Anyone know if he is taking a break or just has enough regulars he's not advertising now?
  21. There were showers in high school, but in all four years I took gym pluse was on the track team I saw exactly 3 boys use them, and only once each. We didn't shower after class so we never got totally naked, people kept their underwear on as they changed. After college when I went back home I joined the local YMCA which at the time just had a big shower room with 8 shower heads on the wall. About 10 years ago they put in clunky stalls around the shower heads, which was extremely annoying since there really isn't that much room and taller people are continually banking their elbows on the walls. I have since joined a different gym with larger shower stalls.
  22. Eh, I had never taken a group shower before I was 22 and I got over it fairly quickly once I did it. And I'm, I think, below average in ability to "get over" things...
  23. If you have that kind of money it's easier to bring any needed help in. Why be one of ten people an aide is looking out for when you can have one person dealing only with you? And the price is about the same...
  24. Well yes AZDR, and I and others have done similar at things like races in Central Park. But in a locker room is silly. You just get your underwear wet.
  25. If they are socking away $36k per year to their 401(k)s they are, by definition, NOT "living paycheck to paycheck." They are just spending most of their take-home pay. Also keep in mind they likely work for employers who match part of their contributions, so that $36k is probably $54k going into their accounts each year. And when the kids go to college they wqn't be paying childcare or lessons any more, so the expense of college will be a wash from their perspectinve.
