This is indeed a better means of verification. Also, there was a time I suspected a guy on Grindr was catfishing with stolen pics so I asked him to send me a selfie holding up three fingers. Instead as 'verification' he sent a pic holding up a piece of paper with my name on it. Not the verification I asked for and I could tell my name had been photoshopped on to the paper in the pic. Not at all suggesting Gabriel is being deceitful here -- I believe him and the pic -- just sharing a scam to make you all wary of.
