So sad. I met Mickey Carroll, one of the few surviving Munchkins at the time, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Such a sweet man.

Back in the late 80's, I spent a couple of years working at an Oz Festival that was part of the Summer Theatre & Children's Theatre of Massachusetts. Every year the Festival had a guest of honor to serve as the grand marshal in the parade and my first year, they got the Munchkin Coroner from the MGM film, Meinhardt Raabe. The entire company got to spend a week listening to his stories and he was absolutely delightful. After the Wizard of Oz filming was complete, he spent over 30 years touring the whole country in the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile, with Meinhardt as "Oscar, the world's smallest chef."

Actually there was an update. There still is one more Munchkin. A woman who was 7 during the making of the movie.
