On the Philadelphia ABC news there was a brief article about the opening of the 35 season of the City of Brotherly Love Softball League, naming it as one of the largest LGBTQ etc organizations in the country. The four men who started the league with four teams mainly from 4 Philly Gay Bars would never have imagined the long standing success of this league. It helped to dismiss stereotypes that gay men could not play sports and it helped promote the stereotype that a gay man's ass looks great in stretchable softball shorts.

Congratulations to the founders and congratulations to ABC for seeing this as newsworthy. 1983 was not an easy year for gay men but this league and many other gay centered organizations started at that calamitous time have helped to push gay issues out of the closet and into the mainstream.
