I kinda like the writing, but at the Harvard hospital I trained at, The Resident would never have made it past internship, let alone to Chief Resident.

And he would have been sent packing, the first time he spoke to the Head of Surgery that way.

 

They need a strong Head of Anesthesia ... that would show them.

Just for clarification:

 

The Chairman of my Department went to Surgical M&M (Morbidity and Mortality) rounds every week. He sat in the middle of the Front Row.

 

No one else EVER sat there.

If he wasn't going, he'd send one of the Senior Faculty in his place, and THEY wouldn't sit in his chair.

 

He was there To Keep Surgeons Honest and to Prevent Any Inappropriate Blame of Anesthesia for Their Mistakes.

 

It was a great place to learn.
