Had an experience with a guy this past weekend...while we were doing the deed I happened to glance up and notice a camera. I don't know how I missed it but when I saw it I freaked out. He put a sock over the camera but who knows how much was on video already. He said the camera wasn't on....who knows if that's true. I'm sure it will end up on xtube or something....but for him not to say anything to begin with kinda irritated me. Still had fun....but now that I realize my experience could be on video makes me a little nervous.

If it does air somewhere you would have grounds for a lawsuit!

Did you think to ask him to show you that it had not been on?

Most people have cameras all over their houses now. Security, door, child/housekeeper, deliveries, etc.

I guess a new politeness should be to cover those cameras, at least in a bedroom, when guests come.

Most people? Where the hell do you live? Lol. I don't know a single person - and I know a lot of people - that have either cameras or security systems.

Is there any practical recourse?

Even if illegal, even if willing to report to police? If video gets out.....? How can anyone pursue civil litigation, unless there's proof of harm?

I suspect that its happening much more frequently than anyone knows.

I've had a rentguy peruse my room, touching every item... clock, remotes, the little Roku device, etc checking for cams. Made me angry, but also made me assume he probably records if at his place. He wouldnt remove hat or shades for fear of being recorded. I threw him out.

I've thought about it, and its influenced my preferences on setting.

I've also wondered what I'd do if I found a camera: I'd grab the camera. Examine for sd cards and take it. (My front door cam records on SD Card and streams on web.) I might smash the camera, or confiscate it. And I think I'd threaten the guy that if a recording is ever made public..........

Of course, dont really know...

The topic makes me sad, and a little paranoid.

A very gay part of DC and every house on my block has cameras inside and out. Also all my suburban friends with kids have them. Kiddy cams are at least 10 years old.

These cams are like $250 for a 4 cam system or $30 each for singles working over wifi and recording onto an sd card or the cloud. When I travel I check all my cams in my house over the internet a couple times every day. I got rid of all the iron bars on my windows because everyone knows if there's a burglary, everything will be recorded. They're pretty ubiquitous now.

Both your reactions are overreactions.

First off, the recordings are just as likely to be in the Cloud. That's where the better systems store.

Second it would certainly be illegal to record sex with someone without very express, probably written permission. 1-party permission recording states are not for sexual recording. Publishing it would be even worse. Plenty of people are going to prison for Revenge Porn.

Fine, it's illegal. File suit.

And then what? Assuming he actually shows up to court, get a judgement the escort probably can't pay? Be real. Situations like these require immediate finesse.

If someone were filming me without permission in that situation, you bet your ass it wouldn't be a sock I'd be throwing.

It's not just a civil suit, it's a serious criminal charge.

It's a serious criminal charge in only 16 states.

Until EVERY state adopts revenge porn laws, it's merely a civil issue for most people.

If you can believe everything on the internet, more states have adopted such laws. Some classify it as a felony, some as a misdemeanor.

Edit: My bad, should have read about each state. Most classify it as a misdemeanor. Apologies.

That's awesome. My numbers were from 2016, I believe.

Good to see states adopt/adapt quickly.

I edited as you posted this. Seems like more work needs to be done as most on the list classify it as a misdemeanor. I would hate to be the victim of such a crime.

When I got to the house I noticed a cam at the front door...no biggie everyone wants to be more secure...then when I realized one was in the bedroom I thought to myself why? I asked him and he gave a weird non answer. Something about being safe. Should have been more vigilant to begin with but this is my first time experiencing this type of situation.

Happened to me some years ago. I noticed the guy kept looking over at the dresser. When I would look in that direction he would move the pillow or position himself to block my line of sight. The sex was incredible I must admit. Perhaps he was aroused by illicitly recording sex with others. Or he was putting on a live sex cam show with me as special guest star.

I didn't freak out about it and pretty much wrote off the experience. If video of the encounter wound up on the internet is anyone's guess. If it did I would sue the guy for royalty payments and demand fifty percent of any proceeds.

Not most people, but a lot of people are getting one. I have one on my doorbell.

I have friends who have one inside and use it to check on the nanny.

It costs about $100 . That is nothing.

I think this may be alot more common than we think. Ive seen 2 cameras in provider's apartments and I havent been with that many. Both were large with pretty wide lens that looked more like a professional style than usual security types. The first time, it was in the kitchen on the ceiling pointed towards the room we were in. When I saw it on my way out, I was really freaked out. It seemed to not be plugged in so that calmed me a bit but when I emailed the provider afterward about it, he laughed it off saying it was nothing. Sometime later, when searching for this provider, I saw he did webcams so I figured maybe that was what the camera was for. Another time I was going for a massage in DC. After following the guy into his apartment with the table set up in the living room, I noticed a similar large, wide lensed camera pointed at the table. I said thanks but no thanks and got the hell out of there.

With regards to legality and filing charges, are you kidding me? Public outing on a hidden camera video and filing charges would be the last thing many would be worried about. Its like saying if your in a car accident that leaves you paralyzed, you can bring charges against the other driver. By then, who the hell cares.

You live in a scarier part of the world I guess.

I felt a sense of horror reading the post of @Dominiking . Whether one is an escort or an unpaid hookup, sex between two people is the ultimate in intimacy. There is no excuse for recording without express consent. I am glad that the situation did not do long term psychological harm. Not only is it a breach of one's privacy, it is an assault on the unknowing victim.
