I have tried the following sites: Outpersonals.com, adultfriendfinder.com, Gay.com and gaydar.co.uk..

Most of the sites are slow and cumbersome except for gaydar.co.uk which allows the easiest navigation. The only problem is that most of the Gaydar members are overseas. In fact the European chat rooms are chock full while the rooms in the USA are virtually deserted.

Are there any other websites for finding, viewing and chatting with potential "dates" in tne NYC area?

I have completely given up on the fruitlessness and frustration of randomly searching out yonder in cyber land. The men of Hooville more than satisfy me now. I tried Craigslist too; just another waste of time IMO, not really much of a dating site. It is OK for pic collectors, and some hook-ups, but not very good at that either. Good luck to you!

I'm trying out Yahoo personals, but since you say "dates" instead of dates, I'm guessing you want sex instead of an evening of a movie and a smooch. The ads I've been reading there seem to be more aimed towards the latter.

match.com seems to have a reasonable selection of gay personals - i don't think there is any gay chat rooms left to meet someone other than a quick hookup. There is one other personals site that I've glanced at gaybio.com It's a Canadian based site but many people from the States are on there as well.

If you go to this site, you can then choose the city closest to you. After that, you can go directly to site for your city. It's basically a network of numerous cities. There are personals of all kinds as well as subgroups, like LTR. You can opt to receive an online newsletter from your city. Definitely worth checking out.

I decided to revive this thread rather than start a new one. I am interested in input on what are the best sites these days that cater to men looking for men without money exchange being involved....therefore no escorts sought in this case. For me, it could be in one of two categories:

 

1. For NSA hookups. Just a romp in the sack.

2. For possible longer term dating.

 

I break it into the two as some sites may cater more to casual encounters and other sites may cater more to real relationship hookups.

 

I have tried CL numerous times in the last 4-6 months and have had little real success in meeting decent guys and also more than half my ads get ghosted and never appear (what's that about?). Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

never used the site but I know allot of people that had great results with manhunt for the times you want a quickie.

years ago I met allot of people of gay com for just platonic friendships. but if you want hookups you will find those there as well.

imo all the sites are going to come with those who are serious, genuine guys regardless of what they want as well as their fair share of game players sketchy unpredictable characters. also you better have face pics posted or no ones going to give you the time of day regardless of where you post except for maybe the Cl then again its the bottom of the barrel after all. so I'm told

If you're athletic (either for real or pretend), you could check out RealJock.com. You don't need to be into sports, but the common interest is some kind of athletic pursuit in a really general sense. That can include weights, swimming, hiking, or just liking to think of oneself as athletic. It's for gay and bi guys, though I'd say most are gay. Lots of guys will have dating interests stated in their profiles, and others will fish around within the context of the message board. So it's a bit less structured for dating than an actual dating site, but there are definitely guys pursuing both dating and hook-ups. The message board works similar to the one here, generally congenial but with the occasional dust-up. Plus it can be a good resource - I finally learned how to do flip turns in the pool after reading up on it on the message board, and learned a couple of new workouts that I wouldn't have known about otherwise.

 

Another site to look at is dudesnude.com. But its popularity varies widely by city. This one is more oriented to hook-ups, but there are lots of guys there who say they are wanting to pursue relationships too.

Thanks Joe/Nate for your suggestions. I struggle to find non-scene non-druggie ultra-masculine guys in the gay world these days.....whether for dating or even in escorts. Match.com and Manhunt sound like good options. RealJock sounds interesting as well. I am definitely into masculine athletic guys younger than myself. I do enjoy some sports (hockey & baseball) so that might be an interesting option that is a little less mainstream. Now that I'm retired, I should probably spend more time in the gym. Its great for getting in better shape and also probably good for connecting up with people that might lead a healthy lifestyle. Thanks guys!

I can't say I've had much success...the fact that I'm 62 is probably one issue though I'm often mistaken for mid 50's..good genes, I guess. I have tried daddyhunt.com with no success with my membership. I researched gay dating services and did join mypartner.com (expensive at about $125) and find that they have limited database for Boston area as they are a California company..that wasn't made all that clear in the reviews I read. I'm leary of trying some of the others like Chemistry.com, etc. for fear of getting the same results. MH was good for hooking up but not as of late (again, I think it's the age issue). match.com I found had the same people that were on years ago so they didn't seem to have anyone new but my last venture there was over a year ago. In most of these cases, I have responded to people of various types and generally don't get much of a response. I don't think it's anything I'm doing in particular I think people just don't take the time to respond. I make it a point to do so to every inquiry out of courtesy. So, I'm not really optimistic that cyberspace will generate anything for most of us.
