This is one of my first memories, and when I hear the word terrorism, I still think of this image. I remember watching the coverage that summer as the plane flew between Algiers and Beirut. The pilot later said that the guy in the photo wasn't actually threatening him; he just wanted to be on TV.

None of them knew the Go-gos or the B-52s...I think I died a little inside.

 

On a high note most of them knew the song by Simple Minds was from the movie The Breakfast Club...
