To specify the question I would like to go further to explain it.

I can see my 3 favorite escorts in NYC are always flying around and never in town when I need them most, is this a turn off for a regular? I think so, I'm sure all these guys have a ton of regulars to keep busy but why do they prefer to be gone and not take care of the regular income, I think it would be smarter to just get established in their home

Town and make it there.

Don't take wrong guys, I'm writing this message because 3 of my fav guys are never in town and it's unpredictable to catch them now they are getting more demanding.

Should I let go or should I keep them? As client it's hard to give up on what i really like to

Search on something new and unknown.

I've come to the following conclusions:

  • I need an emotional and intellectual connection with someone (? "sapiosexual?")
  • I can't afford to see someone THAT often (retired; fixed income)

There are two peripatetic escorts that come to town with a certain frequency. At this point, then tell me when my overnight will be. It's up to me to find a nice restaurant.

It works well. Their home bases are both west of the Mississippi, and I live on the East Coast.

NYC is an especially competitive market. In addition to regulars, it's important for their business to get as many clients as they can. A visit away can give them business who will call them up when in NYC.

I don't live in NYC, so I'm glad they do travel around.

Plus travel is fun. I feel for you not being able to visit at times, but your guys are trying to make a lot of men happy.

Is this a Salt Lake City complaint ... VP ... haha

I was ready to reply even before reading your comment! SLC is a ghost town for clients! I have my travel down pretty solid to where I'm home for a 2-3 week stretch, then I'm traveling again. I suppose your odds are about 60-75% that I'll be in my home town, and schedules match.

In response to OP, the market in my city is very thin. I create more opportunity for myself in my travels. Ask @tristanbaldwin I'm pretty sure he lives in his home 30% of the time. He's a busy man indeed!

Like I said...I'll still be lurking in the shadows so don't let my reply fluster any of you. But, I'm glad you were able to answer a question I've been wondering for awhile.

I used to go to salt lake city often before your "time" so to speak. I say, 2011-2015ish.

The first time I traveled there, I was busy daily. Men4rent was king. There was no shortage of clients. It was Usually a weekday town, not much action on weekends. However, one of my clients was there for business that weekend and I met a bartender at the Peery hotel downtown, went to antelope island. He was going to hire me for a second overnight, but thinking I was in love...I headed back to Denver to meet a friend that night. I'll never turn down 2 overnights in 1 weekend again.

I'll say as of about end of 2015, salt lake city escort scene died. Twice. One after the second election in 2012. And again right before the rentboy collapse.

I've tried occasionally to plan trips there, but haven't been since last November. And that was just 2 days versus when I used to stay for a week. I think the apps and possible higher COL has put the lid on the SLC escort scene. Also noticing much more guys with ads there now than it used to be. There used to only be 5 of us at the most. And non of them were black. So that was an easy swoop for me.

Salt lake city is an example of a changed escort market thanks to the apps. Same thing with Denver. And Nashville. And Minneapolis. However...sometimes I find certain cities occasionally rebound for a short time, if there hasn't been too much traffic coming thru. Finding out when tends to be a combination of luck and good timing.

Mocha, I found this an interesting observation. Can you say a little more about the apps? I'm assuming you mean things like Grindr. Do you think clients are hooking up through the apps instead of hiring?

You might have discussed this elsewhere on the forum but I haven't heard an escort make that connection before. :)

I'll add this quote to the mix:

I had one no-show in 15 years, but several no-show/no further contact-types in the past three years. It's one reason I feel some of our hobby has taken on the quirks and ickiness of grindr.

So it's not just the apps, it's the fact of people not following thru in general. Having been in this long enough, I know it's more of a cause and effect thing.

However, I do personally know clients who have converted to only meeting guys on apps and don't hire anymore, or use apps and still hire, or even met clients thru the apps. One client is so bold...he used an app during the appointment (in between free time during a weekend session) It's like reading the newspaper. I'm like dayum, I feel special. Because he coulda got it for free, but he chose to pay me.

These apps are prudes to not allow people to advertise and pay them. So much potential in these apps. I occasionally still use them, but getting banned is annoying and feels like slut shaming.

At the same time, these apps aren't necessarily making it easier for average dudes to find Tyson beckford look alikes to fuck. The apps are just a temporary fad that's hamstrung the business a little. Fact of the matter is, people still gonna wanna pay for model material.

When you're cute, it's fun to travel and see the sights between clients. That's why fun places to visit like Miami, Austin, San Diego, and Las Vegas get imported talent so often. When Anchorage, Sioux City, Topeka, and Milwaukee turn into the hip young hot spots, I'll be long dead.

Who knows global warming may come quicker.

  • 2 weeks later...

Interesting thread, strong commentary by both @Mocha and @VictorPowers , as well as the client side too.

I find that although I can stay plenty busy in New England / NYC, it’s more fun to explore on the road...and that the novelty of being somewhere near makes your experience part vacation part work; versus purely work. When you go into things in a GOOD MOOD with a SMILE on your face, you’re already setting the stage for success. You could be a lackluster escort with a great attitude and still succeed...or you could be a great looking guy...but if you’re miserable and whine and cry a lot about what’s strong and what’s not; you’re gonna be found lacking. #justsaying

I routinely miss the dogs and the comforts of home, but when I’m on the road it drives me...not to make $ nexceasarily, but to make sure the events you DO connect with, whether busy or slow, are successes. I mean, why the fuck would you step on a plane to go bring a C- game somewhere.

My advice- because a lot of these guys go on road 10-14 days....it’s more cost effective I agree on flights, to do 3/4 cities on multi City tickets, then round trips out and back....but if you go out 4 days back 2, out 4 back 2 and so on....you’ll be a lot happier, who cares if you don’t have as much money at end or the day, you’ll have more sexual energy and always bring your A game.

But what the fuck do I know...?

I haven't been to Anchorage, Sioux City or Topeka (yet) but I do enjoy my couple of days I spend in Milwaukee a few times a year. I have a trip coming up in Dec that I am very much looking forward too.

That sounds like an escort we all know.

Hmmm, I wonder who that references to?

I like what you're saying, but what you're saying is more conditional than any kind of "karma". It doesn't really matter what your attitude is going into places, you're either going to come out well or you're not. From experience, you can have a smile on your face, but if you go someplace out of season or during a current event, you'll need more than a good attitude to pay for your way back home and eat the hotel costs. I gave up that principle long time ago. I've been traveling for the past 3 months straight, and know attitude has nothing to do with it. Sanity, safety and rest/excercise is what's going to determine a good outcome. And most importantly....reliable paying clients.

For example, I went to Detroit for the first time last week. I already had a regular client there lined up for an overnight. He already sent me half, a week before I even got there. Then, the next day...I had another client...and he paid me $600 for just an hour. So best believe, I was flying high with a smile on my face wider than Peyton Manning, Tennessee and Jupiter combined.

But, that didn't stop the fact that after that...I had other callers who were flaky and unreliable, claiming to have 'fell asleep' even despite having a smile and great attitude and working with them. Add the weather was shitty and dark and cold, even with fat pockets, my attitude went sour real quick. Other times, I've been in a depressing state of mind, and out of nowhere things significantly improve.

It's all about just going with the flow. Thinking we can dictate how a trip will be based on our attitude is whimsical at best, disappointing at worst. I always try to just go with moderate expectations, no fake smiles or high hopes. If anything, a strong attitude and sense of security is what protects us from mischievous behavior like what @VictorPowers discusssed....because my experience would have NEVER allowed someone to know my hotel location or book an appointment by email or forum chat alone.

The smiles can come later when I'm buying that $63,000 v8 Infinti Q80 with the 420 HP.

Your hometown should always be where you make the most money and if it's not... MOVE! Touring is fun but also it can be expensive. Yes you make money but also hotel & airfare and other expenses are taking from your earnings. If you aren't making enough in the city you pay rent in, you should move.

However, I love touring. I do great in every city I've been to. You accumulate regulars in other cities so each time you return you can let them know and it is already business lining up at the door. After a while you have regulars in many cities and you kind of create a schedule of when you'll be in certain cities to constantly be servicing all your regulars. Why would you just stay in one spot if you can constantly be creating constitent income by traveling? Look at it from a business perspective. I'm not going to stay in town more often because my 300/hr weekly regular is upset I'm never in town anymore when I can go to NYC and charge 500/hr and be seeing those regulars

Ok, maybe it's because I have a few drinks in me that I feel like throwing heat right now....no no...I feel like throwing TRUTH right now. "In Vino; Veritas."

Whimsical at best? Projecting positivity vs. negativity out to the Universe is a 'whimsical' attitude? In all actuality, it's a fairly level headed approach. You tour cities that you KNOW there's something worth seeing things in...if you're slamming busy, then you don't get to see those things...but it's a win, $ wise. And if you aren't slammed and jammed, then you just had a vacation and a chance to work on yourself. A WIN. Both these things require a positive, UNGUARDED outlook, I won't even use the word ATTITUDE here, because it implies the very same crap that I think is holding you back from being a better escort, pardon my fucking French. Case and point- you say:

"My experience would never allowed someone to know my hotel location or book an appointment by email or forum chat alone".

Ok, that right there shows a certain degree of attitude. What's the harm in letting someone know the name of your hotel in advance? Perhaps it's in a section of town they don't feel like going to; perhaps parking is expensive there. Perhaps it's got a front desk that is on top of things and gives clients grief on the way in. If you approach each client with this guarded attitude, like everyone has a negative motive towards you, then God help you. (On the flip side of the coin, I'm not saying to be naive either, but this FORUM is a community of mostly VETTED people).

I'm gonna come straight out and say it- and this isn't RACE driven at all(I've played with ALL types from all corners of this world, I enjoy and appreciate EVERYONE)....you and Sean Xavier are in my opinion, the best looking two African American escorts out there. You've got all the weapons in your arsenal to succeed, yet you're upset at a lot of what comes your way. Attitude is everything; if you have a bad trip you brush it off and don't let that affect your performance with clients on the next one. Don't dwell.

You could be a Caravaggio of escorting; but you're not painting with all the colors on the palette.

Be well all, I'm boarding for home.
