What about hep c advice?

Hepatitis C is rarely transmitted sexually. It is primarily transmitted through exposure to blood (shared needles, etc).

That said, there are no vaccines for hepatitis C at this time. There are treatment options with antivirals. You'll want to see an infectious disease specialist if you believe that you've been exposed. You'll need testing.

n.b. While I am a medical professional, I am not an infectious disease specialist. You'll want to talk to your physician for more specific advice.

Hep c ... no vaccine but a treatment/cure does exist.

Here in southern California, hep A is epidemic! and most primary docs are recomnending it regardless of life style.

Hep B vaccine is also pretty much in demand in the single population , agsin regardless of age. sex, or lifestyle.

Your PMD probably wouldn't bat an eyebrow over this.

Also, any LGBTQ CENTER anywhere is a good start.

I've looked into HPV and the consensus when I checked was that it was, roughly speaking, useless if you're over about age 26. Has that changed?

Depends on when you started having sex. It's targeted to people who are just belonging sexually active--the logic is that if you've been sexually active for years with multiple partners then you probably already have it.

So while the official guideline is ages 16-26, if you didn't start sleeping around until recently then you may want to get it. I'm getting my third (and final) shot in two months.

Thanks. "Recently" is in the eye of the beholder, I guess -- compared to some on this forum who started in their teens (you know who you are!), it's recently for me. But by more objective standards, it's probably way too late....

Talk to your doctor. You can also get the vaccine and pay for it yourself; insurance may not cover it but that doesn't mean you can't get it.
