When it comes to escorts, is a name just a name? Having perused quite a few escort ads over the years, it seems to me that there are about three different ways in which escorts choose to identify themselves. Some go with the double-name such as Benjamin Nicholas, Steven Draker, Vincent Michael, Bobby Thompson, etc. Others offer just a single-name: John, Mike, Aaron, etc. And some choose to advertise not so much with a name but with a handle or description instead: 2hot4u, bottoms_up, (I’m making these up and am clearly not very good at it!), topp’nDC, etc.

 

For those of you who have had the good pleasure of experiencing a number of escorts, I’m wondering if you’ve ever noticed a pattern in terms of types of names and types of escorts. Part of me wonders if one should be wary of hiring an escort who advertises only with a handle, or is that just silly of me?

Yes. I look for escorts while traveling. About three-quarters of the time, I'm in major metropolitan areas; the rest of the time can be anywhere. I enjoy escorts who are in their early to mid 20s, give or take, who have no attitude.

 

There's the old saying that "birds of a feather flock together" and I'm no exception in this case. I like guys who are like the guys I went to college and high school with, who are like the guys in the neighborhood I grew up in, who are like the guys who live in my neighborhood now, who are like the guys who I work with or the ones who are my friends. In other words, sane, ordinary, interesting, bright guys who are just fun to hang out with (who also tend to be blond and blue-eyed, but that's a different thread).

 

Over the course of a fair number of years, I've discovered that I tend to have the most fun with guys who are escorting on a pretty temporary basis. They may be escorting to get through grad school or pay some bills or whatever, but they're not seeing escorting as a prominant part of their future. They most certainly haven't gotten to a point where they think it's not even possible to put a value on the worth of an hour of their time. And they almost always want to stay far away from publicity, prefering to find a few regular clients and stick with them.

 

To get back to your question, the guys I like tend to be "Rob" or "Jack" or "Tom". They're seldom "big_uncut_tool", "powerhouse_top" or "stud_bottom". They usually use only one name.

 

By the time "Jack" has gotten to "Jack Thompson", he's been around the block; he may have flirted with doing porn; he's seen it all, done it all, been burned and gotten cynical; and he's more than likely developed an impression of his own worth that is out of proportion to anything that seems reasonable to me.

 

Good escorts -- okay, escorts who look good -- spend a fair amount of time with guys who are constantly praising their virtues and telling them how great they are. Unfortunately, many of them come to believe the things people tell them. When they get to that point, I have no interest whatsoever in spending time with them.

 

So, yes, when it comes to escorts, give me "Mike" any day at all in preference to "Massive Mike" or "Mike Rushmore".

Unless, of course, he started out as "Jack Thompson" right from the start, as many of us do. Just because a guy has a last name doesn't automatically make him a jaded, cynical, never-was porn actor with an inflated ego.

Generally speaking, you will notice more of the newer escorts and those who gave it some thought using the two names, partly for the reason Mr. Draker provides and also because it does make you stand out more.

 

I believe the hotTOPnDC and Stud4hire names are remanants of the AOL cyber chat room type advertising. It also may be easier and simpler to come up with and, at least to some escorts, a better advertisement of talents or orientation (top, bottom, etc.) or, for example, hotTWINKboi4hire also would attract those who want a "hot twink" whereas those who want "massiveMUSC4hire" would look there. If you read names like IVAN IVANOVICH or RICK ROSS or DEREK MONROE, it would not necessarily tell you that this guys are body builders, tops, bottoms, great cock suckers, twinks, hairy, smooth, etc.

 

The random collection of attribute names are also a good way to hide, if escorting is just temporary and the escort does not really want to create any kind of image or identity.

 

As for the ego thing, I think any of us, escort or otherwise, could be guilty of that, for any number of reasons, not all of them having to do with physical attributes. As with anything else that might be a negative quality, it would readily come across to a client if the client did the due diligence he should, which obivously not all undertake.

Although I don't share his taste in men, I do agree with Boston Guy's post. There's alot suggested in a name. For instance, there's the one syllable vs. two syllable name. One syllable suggests a certain friendly good- naturedness, a masculine guy... Rick, Buck, Steve, Jake. Two syllables (or more) often suggest a younger "twink" type, something a bit whiny, hairless and spoiled: Christian, Tyler, Sebastian, Benjamin.

This rule is for Waspy escorts only... often times "ethnic" escorts will use a two syllable name such as Eddie, Frankie, or Junior, to indicate a certain streetwise bravado. Being from South Philly or Queens is fine and sexy. just don't tell your client that you spent time in Amsterdam. It spoils the fun, because then you're no longer a noble savage.

Two names... that ups the ante in every game. A surname suggests race, race suggests stereotypes. And stereotypes suggest... well, different things to different people. However, no one is going to expect that when they hire a "Benjamin Nicholas" that an uneducated grease-monkey is going to show up at the door. They expect a certain style. A&F probably, at least.

Likewise, names like Bruno Gaucho or Miguel Leon suggest "ethnic", but not "streets" like Eddie or Junior might.

A more sophisticated worldview... with a name like this, it's ok if you've been to Amsterdam. It's even oK if you've been to the Folsom St. Fair. But you should be, at the very least, pretty tanned. Even if you're forced to winter in New York.
