The 7.0 quake was apparently ordered up by Chicago Boy in retaliation for his dismissal from a popular internet website. However, I may be all wet...:)

I didn't know Chicago Boy was banned from the other site, too!?! Does that mean he's finally going to get a life?

BTW, if you're all wet that must be some giant Tsuami. Didn't think it would make it all the way to your sunny spot in Kalifornia. ;-)

It's no joke in terms of the Weather Service issuing a Tsunami warning for the west coast. From the Mexico all the way up to Vancouver. There was a earthquake southwest of the coastal community of Crescent City, just 300 miles northwest of San Francisco. The magnitude was in the range of 7.0 and authorites are still assessing the damage. This is the second earthquake to hit this coastal community since 1964. It was a terrible tragedy back then 29 people died

I hope the residents of Crescent City and the surroundings are coping as best as possible with what they endured last night. Just to provide an update, the weather service have taken down the official Tsunami warning. That should be a relief for all the residents of this state. Thoughts and prayers should be with the residents of Crescent City and the surrounding areas.

As of now, we are okay after this afternoon's 5.3 earthquake. This was felt over a wide area of SoCal, and, yes, one has to wonder what is with all of the shaking lately!

In addition to the earthquakes in CA, our weather pattern in Utah is also very strange. I've had it snow at my home in the past two weeks. Ski resorts (30 minutes from my home) still have 10-12 feet of snow and they're predicting they'll still be skiing on the 4th of July!

I know with the earthquake and Tsuanmi last December, there was talk that it actually affected the location of some islands and land. Think there has been a slight shift in the earth that's affecting us now?

I know this sounds odd but something weird is happening.

Actually, geologists on the news this evening are pointing out the SoCal normally gets 3-5 quakes in the 5.0 range per year, but it's been a slow decade. We haven't had a 5.0 since 2000.

So if we get more than "normal" (according to our short-term memory) quakes, it's just a return to what's really normal.

Hey Deej,

Wasn't 2000 the year we had that 8.0 quake out in Mohave, or was that '99?

It has been rather quiet around here the last few years, huh?

I've only been here the last few years so I've got nothing to compare it with. But that is what the geologists are saying.
