im about to book my trip to Minneapolis by myself but I'm scared of invest such amount of money and get nothing as soon as I get there, when I posted my travel schedule to Minneapolis only 3 people texted me saying that they are looking forward to see me but like you know it's not guarantee since their schedule can changed and they probably won't have the time to see me, I need to get out of NYC for a week and really can't decide which city go and try, Minneapolis is the only one I can think about.

Dont forget St Paul is right next door to Minni as well. Sometimes it might take a few trips to a city to secure regular clients. So it might take more than one trip to make it profitable. Vegas, Chicago and Milwaukee have been cities that have been good for me when I traveled. But you shpuld be prepaired for the event if something happens and a trip not be profitable.

Hugs,

Greg

Exactly, have you check Minneapolis hotel prices, they charge just like NYC or LA

Whenever I travel I usually use Priceline auction or express deals. I never pay full price for a room.

You will find the Mpls/St. Paul gay scene a bit different than anywhere else in the country. It's a great place to be out and proud and has a great cultural and artistic base. The gay community is an odd combination prudish externals and much of the scene is controlled by the large lesbian community. There are some escorts who fly into the Twin Cities regularly. Perhaps some of these regulars will hit you up. It's a great place to visit and I would be really interested in your impressions and experiences after your trip is over. Be sure to share and keep us posted!

I believe that @MikeBannacheck is based there. He is a forum member who occasionally logs in and posts here, and he might have some insights.

In general, travelling does seem risky and stressful in the sense that there are no guarantees that hotel and air costs will be recouped, much less a profit made. But it seems that many people do it, and I presume that’s because they find the business opportunities to be worth it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, as they say. Good luck to you, regardless.

Are you traveling strictly for work or for fun? If you've tested the waters and 3 potential clients reached out, I'd agree with the above. If you cannot confidently say you'll cover all of your expenses, then it'll be a risk.

It's all about taking chances on new cities and going from there. Maybe an amazing city for you is a dud for me. I wish you luck. I bet hotels are cheap, so that'll help your travel budget.

Aww thanks, I think he same way, for example in Florida it's too way too bad for Latinos since it's a very Latin city but white guys get everything there, hotels are not cheap at all in Minneapolis but not expensive either, I don't know much about the city so I think Downtown will be the best choice to stay and walk around.

I've had lots of good memories in Minneapolis back in the "day". Well...more specifically about 3-4 years ago. Like @Kippy said...the gay scene there is different, but manageable. It's not all in your face like here in Orlando or overplayed to exhaustion like Wilton Manors and Los Angeles (not that that's bad, but it usually = lots of free sex elsewhere). But once you're in Minneapolis, for the type of rural place Minnesota is (anyone watch Fargo?) you'd be quite surprised. Plus the Mall of America is the largest mall in the country.

Here's the thing about cities and with the whole touring thing: (And I'm not going to let off too much information because nobody here really applauds me for the good things I say, but won't hesitate to mace me for the disagreeable things lol).

It's not about quantity. It's about quality. I don't go by numbers. People can schedule and cancel. But new people can come along as well who may not have until you're actually there. That's why me personally I prefer to drive over fly. I can stay as long as needed, but can get out quick if required. Course New York to Minneapolis is a distance.

Point is, you just have to be there. It's risky but, nothing gained nothing earned. People nowadays will simply text and say they want to see you, but you won't really know how the city will turn out until you're actually there. If you got 0 replies, then I'd reconsider it because you don't want to be stranded or waste money either.

Also wanted to add...people will sometimes say things to you to elevate themselves. Some people were told growing up, "if you don't have nothing nice to say, don't say nothing at all."

But, some people...particularly in a competitive business like ours, have changed it to, "if you don't have nothing nice to say, lie about it and say how great it is anyway."
