Blueboy Amsterdam Closes -- Another era gone

I was very saddened to learn in the reviews today that the BlueBoy Club/WhyNot? in Amsterdam has closed. It was a true boys brothel -- and, I believe will be sorely missed. I had several very good times there when visiting Amsterdam -- the shows were always sexy and hot, and the boys were always friendly and without attitude (at least that was my experience). The bartenders were all friendly and helpful -- and no one was "pushy"...I never felt that I had to go with a boy immediately. I recall browsing through their photo books for hours while sipping beers at the bar. Truly, another era has gone. I wonder if the Internet was not a primary reason for its closing. But, I hope something comparable will replace it. The whole idea of going to a boys brothel and window shopping was always so much fun.

My experience was somewhat different: while I was browsing through the photos, boys would be constantly sidling up to me, offering their services and trying to get me to buy them drinks. I had a couple of good experiences there, but most were disappointing, and by the time of my last visit in 2003, the atmosphere was really depressing.

I was last there in 2002, I guess, and it was still fairly decent then. I'm sorry to hear it went down-hill so bad. I still think it's a great concept. I hope someone can open an up-scale "house" and keep it running cleanly without falling into the sleaze. I plan to return to Amsterdam later this year. Maybe the scene will get better by then. I'll miss going to the brothel, if there's not a new one.

This is sad news indeed. This institution was wonderful in its day. I haven't been to A'dam in nearly ten years but I used to go regularly and the Blue Boy was always a major part of my visit. Upstairs they had the Attic which was one of the finest S&M play spaces I have ever experienced. Thanks to the managers of Blueboy, I was introduced to several of the very best and most sadistic tops that have ever worked me over.

 

Club 21, in my memory, offers some delicious boys, but they really don't have a proper S&M playspace. Did meet a marvelous young sadistic twink there, however.

 

So many great sex venues are disappearing all over the world!

Hey Anton -- thanks much for the information about Club 21. I'll have to check that out my next trip. I reallly like the idea of a "house" where you can sit and view and/or meet guys up front before deciding on one to go upstairs with or wherever for a brief spell. But hey -- I might have to give you a call too :-) -- I like your web site...very informative and some really great pictures. I'll keep you in mind when I'm in the area.

There's another place you may like to try: Club 21, and you can find it at the Spuistraat 21 (= same street as the back entrance of the Blueboy). It's a 5 minutes walk from where Blueboy used to be. I've been there a few times (showing clients around), and I found that the atmosphere always was nicer than at Blueboy.
