My first visit to a casino was Harrah's Lake Tahoe, I was 18-19. He was he headliner that night, I think it was like $17.50 for the show including two drinks. My stomach hurt from laughing so much.

 

I'd bump into him occasionally over the years at the racetrack, or a restaurant. Always a gentleman and always a handshake for a fan.

Bob Newhart once told a story about when he, Rickles and their wives went on vacation to England. Both couples toured the Sherwood Forest. He was saying Rickle's was looking all over the place for something. After awhile they asked what he was looking for. He response Robin Hood.

 

Not only was he a very kind and gracious person, but off stage he was a very quite and shy. He did a pilot with him and RuPaul as a gay couple. It was supposedly going to be a spin-off prom Rosanne. That would have been funny.
