LOL ... well, TBT, I will admit, Robert Capa totally does it for me. But I think I was referring to the greatness of his talent ... I think ...

At first I got him confused with Frank Capra and I was pissed that someone could be bi-blessed (well, bi- anything). I really don't know his work so I will definitely check it out. Yes, we will be lucky that we have the Ansel Adams photos to prove that things looked the way they do. I am not sure if presidents can undo national parks (I think only Congress can do that) but if there is a way you can be sure our president will do it. He will definitely find a way for the energy companies to dig, etc.

Bruce Weber discovered and photographed Jeff Aquilon in the late 70a and 80s. Jeff is known as the First Male Super Model. Weber also did many shoots for Abercrombie & Fitch's semi-erotic ad campaigns.

Herbert List (7 October 1903 – 4 April 1975) was a German photographer, who worked for magazines, including Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and Life, and was associated with Magnum Photos. His austere, classically posed black-and-white compositions, particularly of male nudes, taken in Italy and Greece have been highly formative for modern photography, with contemporary fashion photographers like Herb Ritts being clearly influenced by List's style. He is also noted for his erotic street photography.

Thomas Eakins

In addition to being an accomplished painter, watercolorist, and teacher, Thomas Eakins was a dedicated and talented photographer. Working with a wooden view camera, glass plate negatives, and the platinum print process, he distinguished himself from most other painters of his generation by mastering the technical aspects of the new medium and requiring his students to do the same. For Eakins, the camera was a teaching device comparable to anatomical drawing, a tool the modern artist should use to train the eye to see what was truly before it.

 

Although it is not known from whom or when Eakins learned photography, it is clear that by 1880 he had already incorporated the camera into his professional and personal life. The vast majority of photographs attributed to Eakins are figure studies (nude and clothed) and portraits of his pupils, his extended family (including himself, immediately below) and his friends.

 

Eakins did not generally use photographs as a preparatory aid to painting, although there are a small number of oils which have direct counterparts in existing photographs:
