Hey men... just want to say again how much I love this forum. Informative and funny... I've interacted with some great guys.

I am heading to Key West at the end of the month. Any escort recommendations? RM was pretty bleak...

The last time I checked out Key West for escorts, there were exactly two. One was not my type, and the other proved to be very nice, but eccentric to put it mildly. I think clients typically find escorts in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale and ship them in which of course gets expensive and is a major commitment generally involving a few days.

There are (were?) two male stripper bars on the main drag where young guys perform on the bar and are available for lap dances. Most of these kids are straight guys from Eastern Europe as are the staffs at the gay resorts. Great eye candy, but do not assume they are escorts or disrespect them. You might be able to pick up a dancer at one of the bars if he is willing to do more than strip.

That said, I believe that our Forum member Oliver Saks is traveling to Key West in the near future. You might want to contact him through the Forum or on RM.

I'll be here until March 29th - happy to discuss meeting, and if I'm not your type, I'd still be happy to give you some recommendations while you're here (if you aren't familiar with KW, that is -I've spent a good deal of time here and know some gems)

Key West has some locals guys who work, but the island on whole is feast or famine depending on time of year and/or events happening.

I spend 2-3 months a year there. Only one real gogo bar left (Bourbon Pub), they do have a backroom for private dances. A couple of new gay bars are currently being developed, along with the recent opening of KW's first new gay club in 20+ years (Sidebar at Aqua). A few of the gogo's escort on the side, but the owner keeps a tight lid on them openly discussing any of it.

Interesting. Any thoughts on finding any of the local guys ? RentMen is a desert and I only know of one Miami guy who is willing to make the trip.

I've seen some on Adam4Adam. Grindr is always busy and the wording of ads always seems to give away the working guys. Craigslist/Backpage also has a presence, but since the crackdown, there's more sifting through that has to be done.

There was almost no one on Rentmen when I was just there a couple weeks ago.

The go go bar had one hot guy. He said he didn't escort but would be willing to show me around the island. Gave him my number but he never called.

Grindr was a mixed bag too. A lot of people coming off of cruise ships. And there were a bunch of hot guys on Hornet who were... in Cuba. LOL. So that didn't work out either.

Great info... thanks so much. Hmmmm... looks like KW could use some working boys! I haven't been to Key West in a very long time. Staying at the Island House (LOL)... Cafe Marquesa... I know it's not as "gay" as it used to be but - hoping to relax and have a good time.

Definitely not as gay as it used to be. And I felt a lot of subtle racism/homophobia as a gaysian while there. It was also off-season, so it might have been a bit different.

I would say that you should watch yourself more than you used to when you were there last but I'll let someone else chime in too.

Island House is always a good time. Enjoy :)

Marquesa is always good food, but also check out NineOneFive (Florida/Caribbean), El Siboney (Cuban), Sandy's (late night), Antonia's (Italian) and Santiago's Bodega (tapas).

Yes, Key West isn't as much of a mecca as it used to be, but if you get off Duval, the local scene is as gay-friendly and accepting as it's always been. Consider this: We have a gay chief of police, a mostly gay city council and a very strong, dominant GLBT business-owners association. While the tourism demographic has changed thanks mostly to the cruise ship scene, I can't say I've ever felt out of place on the island.

Agave for tequila and mezcal drinks and amaaaazing pork and fish tacos (look for Jules. Seriously hot chick that even as a gay man I can appreciate); I can't second Benjamin's recommendation of El Siboney enough. Fantastic food, mindblowingly affordable prices; Conch Republic if you don't mind being in the tourist trap area but it's worth it for the Royal Red Shrimp you have to ask for (unless your server brings them up) and their cracked conch "fritters" that have about 1/5 of the battering that you get at any other place that serves conch fritters aka hush puppies with some conch bits included.

Royal Red Shrimp

Locals call them 'pinks.' Deep water shrimp that are huge and taste like lobster. My idea of a good afternoon includes sitting at the Half Shell Raw Bar, ordering a lb of pinks (peel & eat) and watching whatever is on the bar TV. Great views of the harbor, interesting people watching.

I miss Big Ruby's in Key West. Great place to stay, friendliest staff of any place I ever stayed at. I miss the tea dance and Atlantic shores.

Louie's back yard isn't gay but is a fun place to hang out at. Not sure if it's still around, but Mangia Mangia is a great place to go for homemade pasta. They used to do a gay trolley tour one day a week.

As far as escorts, you probably are going to have more escorts visiting there than locals. I found the escorts I contact there last time to be very unreliable/flaky and a friend of mine said the same (seems like reliable escorts in Detroit and Key West are hard to find).

There may be some gay rags at the bar that would have escort ads as well. If you aren't lucky enough to find anyone you'll still have a great time in Key Wesat

I called them shlobsters. Seemed dirty and appropriate enough for how sinfully delicious they are :)

You guys are the best! Thanks... Will report back on the trip. I think it will be fun with or without working boys...

You'll have a great time and this is a great time of the year weather wise to visit Key West.

I want to go back soon. I was at a travel show recently and told they are know doing day trips to Cuba. Seeing hotel rooms are very hard to find in Cuba would be a good way to see Havana

Just want to say that I am a well-reviewed / vouched / reliable escort based out of Detroit... but I do travel a great deal.

Key West in general is one of the friendliest places I have ever visited. It seems to be contagious. The locals are amazing and it spreads to the tourists.

Maybe I should have used the word rare or "hard to find" instead of impossible to find:) I have found escorts in Detroit, Key West and Cleveland to be the worst about suddenly dropping off the face of the earth when you suggest an actual meeting date/time or just not responding an initial email on sites like rentboy (that site was still up last time I was in EYW) or Rentmen to at least just have the courtesy to say "not interested" or "not my scene"

A treat I would really recommend while you are in Keywest is the keylime pie on a stick dipped in chocolate and frozen.

Something else that I always enjoy doing is the gay sunset boat ride. I'd also suggest renting a bike if your guest house/hotel doesn't them available. Great fun way to get around the island and bike rentals are very reasonable in EYW
