It's wonderful and surprising how little effect this several months

large increase in oil prices have had on the US economy. With both large jumps in oil prices in the past ( once during the Carter years and once during the Bush The First years) the economy went into a marked recession dive. And with both the percentage increase in oil prices was much less than the present increase.

This gradual, but steady economic growth of the past 4 1/2 years with almost no inflation just keeps putting out better and better

numbers. Mr Volker and the Federal Reserve are doing a great job.

The higher the price per crude oil barrel, the better. Economy is

booming here in Texas, the energy sector can't hire enough workers to fill the need even at great salaries, and the state treasury

is filling up with money. Also, THANK YOU Bill Clinton for NAFTA and George Bush for CAFTA.

Technically speaking it was the first Bush Administration who first proposed NAFTA. I think Former Secretary Of State Lawrence Eagleburger was the key figure in pushing this plan. The main reason was to create an alliance within the Americas as a contintent just as the Europeans have done with the EEU. What did happen is that when President Bush lost the election to then Governor Bill Clinton, during the transitional phase Mickey Kantor who happens to be a close friend to Bill Clinton took a look at NAFTA as he would be a key figure in the then incoming Clinton Administration on trade and liked the idea very much. After taking the oath in 1993, President Clinton decided that what the Bush Administration had created was a nice concept and pushed the plan in Congress. I'm sure there might be a few people out there who remember the debate that took place on Larry King Live between then Vice President Albert Gore and H. Ross Perot over NAFTA. I think NAFTA is a great idea for competitiveness, cant be protectionists forever.

If most of the country thinks gas prices are way too high as it is today. Wait till China begins it's higher consumption for crude oil That's when we'll see oil prices sky rocket thru the roof, at least OPEC are reaping the profits these days. As mentinoned get ready for the onslaught of the Chinese for crude oil.

Is it Jones or Johnson? You're so full of BS you cannot even remember your lies in the same post (shrugs).

Gas or more importantly oil prices effect heating, cooking, airline fuel, ship fuel blah blah blah. So the impact is beyond your little selfish need to take some young boy to the shore. And do you really think the married Mr. Jones errr Johnson is paying some gay prostitue $250. to fuck? Is that yet another fantasy of your sick imagination?

Very witty, and so original 2004. Did your belly jiggle, and your back pinch, when you stomped your bloated feet on the ground in joyful celebration?

Does your chin rest comfortably on your pouty breasts when you "shrug" at such a stupid observation? Does the name really matter? And, for the record, I am waaaaaaaaaaay full of BS!

Heat is souring through houses nationwide, planes are filled to capacity, cruises are booked in advance, people are eating with a gourmet twist in record numbers, and the economy has improved since the oil price increases. And yes, married men remain active consumers, as they always have, within the escort market. Not one of my fantasies either.

Please don't wink at me. Especially through the tiny trailer windows. It freaks me out. I remain, joel304.

RE: Current Gas prices

I am really enjoying this tread. I find it most interesting that this site which deals with matters involving sexual johns and prostitutes has so much in common with the economic prostitutes in Washington D.C. and the economic johns in Detroit, and the petroleum industries head offices. The real prostitutes today are our esteemed members of the United States House of Representatives, the United States Senate and the man sitting in the White House. They are bought and paid for by the automotive and petroleum industries. Nonthing and I repeat absolutely nothing is going to be done about resolving our dependency on fossil fuel until the last dollar is squeezed from the public. And frankly it has nothing to do with weather or not one is a Democrat or a Republican because the politicans from both parties are equally involved. I have always thought in prophetic that the English language began the words politican and prostitute with the same letter.

Pain at the pump? Allot of people have told me that there is no real cause to get worked up when you see $3 a gallon gas because if you had a $2 gallon of gas in 1979 it would be the equivalent of $5.66 a gallon today.

I think the cause for worrie for me is that what caused gas to go up in 1979 and today are totally different, not to mention we are no longer a savings society and have turned into a service/spending economy and that means for every dollar we spend on gas means one less dollar spent on something else and that means less jobs due to company's not meeting expectations.

Less jobs is not what we need.

And who put the gun to the head of all these urban dwellers to buy their SUV's? Everyone seems to have forgotten the "energy crises" of the 70's.

I remember when I was 8, my father used to drive around for the best gas prices because there were "gas wars" going on. Of course sometimes he had no choice but to say, go to Gulf. My mom was collecing the glasses! She ended up with like a set of glasses and matching pitcher that were given out free with each fill up. Compare that to kthis summer when Unocal was offering free Dodger tickets - afer you got 4 tank fulls!
