Glad you had this attended to quickly. Septic arthritis with an artificial joint is a very serious situation and as you are well aware, one that requires extreme and prolonged treatment. The artificial joint may need to be removed as it serves as a nidus for infection and it is hard to clear the infection from non-living tissue. Best of luck with this.
