Glad you had this attended to quickly. Septic arthritis with an artificial joint is a very serious situation and as you are well aware, one that requires extreme and prolonged treatment. The artificial joint may need to be removed as it serves as a nidus for infection and it is hard to clear the infection from non-living tissue. Best of luck with this.

Massive infection. Plastic liner removed and replaced. 6 weeks IV antibiotics the a year of orals. Oxycodone 15 po q4h for adequate analgesia

 

I feel your pain!! SO Sorry to hear -- Im afraid my hip may be joining your knee - see the ortho tomorrow
