WOW! I can't believe what I just read. After Fox cancelled DVD sets of The Mary Tyler Moore Show when Season One didn't meet sales expectations, fans (including me) of what may be the best TV show ever made were extremely disappointed. But then I just read this breaking news and I got hard (figuratively):

If you are a fan of MTM, pass the word on to your friends and buy Season Two so they'll continue releasing the show. Remember, Chuckles doesn't bite the dust until Season Five!

And the first season of The Bob Newhart Show is scheduled for release later this spring, so you can make believe you're watching CBS on Saturday night as you pop these discs into your player.

I hope that the site's information regarding the upcoming Partridge Family Season One release is accurate. That one has been delayed over and over.

Of course I'm most excited about next week's release of season two of "Green Acres," which is one of my favorite TV shows ever, probably right behind "All In The Family."

You have good taste in sitcoms. I already ordered Bob Newhart and Partridge Family Season One (which includes 2 bonus episodes of the cartoon series "Partridge Family in Outer Space," which I've never seen), each from amazon.com for only $20.97...and Green Acres Season Two, too...and Season Four of All in the Family.

By the way, do you (or does anyone) know anything about the Doris Day Show? That one is before my time; I don't think it's ever been shown in syndication. Season One is coming to DVD soon and I'm wondering if it's good or awful.

Dunno about the Doris Day show. I vaguely recall it from the dim memories of my childhood. Mom wanted to watch it so we watched it.

Now if they ever release the Julie Andrews Show (also never syndicated) on DVD, I'm there! In those days, there were as many musical/variety shows as there are LAW & ORDER franchises today, and then some.

The Doris Day show, at least season one, was good. I enjoyed many of the shows.....single successful mother of two kids moves from city to countryside and all sorts of things happen.

I don't remember much after the first season, but I know that over time, the kids were gone and Doris was on her own. Just wasn't the same.

Besides, I had already discovered "The Mod Squad" by then.

The Doris Day show was like watching one of her movies. The only thing missing was Rock

I've got my 2nd season of the GOLDEN GIRLS on order. But Rick already knows that.

Did anyone see the reunion of One Day At A Time?? Glen turned out quite nice. Dear sweet Shelly looked like she had be doing Johny Angel dust in her old age instead of singing Johny Angel

I think that it was the fall of 1974 when the stars alligned at CBS and the Saturday night lineup was: All In the Family, MASH, Mary Tyler Moore, and Bob Newhart followed by Carol Burnett. They then moved shows to bolster other nights, but it was an amazing time with amazing talent for television.

Now we get such dreck as Fear Factor, Angry Nanny, Wife Swap and Who Wants to Marry My Plumber. What happened to entertainment?

Now THAT sounds truly strange. I didn't even know that there was a PF cartoon series, much less one where they went to outer space. Hopefully it will be as bad/good as it sounds.

> Partridge Family Season One (which includes 2

>bonus episodes of the cartoon series "Partridge Family in

>Outer Space," which I've never seen)

I know nothing about the Doris Day sitcom.

I love to google:

Originally titled The Partridge Family: 2200 A.D. (CBS-TV September 7, 1974 through March 8, 1975). All the original actors (except David Cassidy and Shirley Jones!) lent their voices to the show, where the Partridges took their act on the interstellar road, 225 years in the future. This incarnation saw the rock and rollers touring other galaxies. In lieu of the family’s trademark psychedelic touring bus, their mode of transportation in outer space was a psychedelic touring spaceship. It didn’t take long for the singing clan to meet up with a pair of good-humored teenaged aliens, Veenie (from Venus) and Marion (from Mars), who provided much of the show’s comic relief.

I'm so happy about MTM Season 2! I had given up on it - and I was particularly distraught because when they released season 1, I foolishly assumed they'd follow up with the rest of the series on DVD so I got rid of all my VHS tapes of the show! And by the time I figured out that there'd be no follow-up, TVLand had quit showing the series!

I never understood that excuse of the first season not meeting their sales expectations. Not when the shelves are full of crap like 'What's Happening' season 3.

I wish all the quality series would follow the example set by the Dick Van Dyke Shows DVD releases...beautiful packaging and releasing two seasons at one time! (Why NOT do that when a series is long defunct?) And release them in a timely fashion - not years apart.

Now if only someone would get the ball rolling and release the remaining seasons of THE LARRY SANDERS SHOW, I'd be a happy camper.:-)

And news if they are going to release shows like

I MARRIED JOAN

MY LITTLE MARGIE

OH SUZANNA

It gets boring here at the Olds Folks Home-not much to do after the early birds special and before the rice pudding comes out

guess I just polish my walker
