Zach Sire is reporting that Corbin Fisher's blog has been seized by the Federal government for distribution of pornographic material. This is the Corbin's Campus blog that's covered behind the scenes material. Some comenters speculate this is a hack but Zach says it's confirmed.

First it was Rentboy, then Backpage, now Corbin Fisher, who's next? Reminds me of the saying "a government powerful enough to give you everything you want is powerful enough to take it all away."

Despite Zach's insistence, I'm not convinced that it's not a hack/hoax.

(Why that subpage and not the full apparatus?)

Plus, the language of the seizure badge seems odd. And none of the site's operations are in NY.

But it will be interesting to see how this plays through...

Since when, depending on the jurisdiction, is pornography illegal? As long as they aren't showing anything illegal like a snuff film, allowing models who are minors to perform, or allowing minors to watch, what would the illegality be?

I agree that it could be a hack but these days nothing is certain. If it's a hack, I would think the hackers would hit the main CF site. Attacking the blog seems odd unless it's a back door to the credit card data on the main site.

We will just have to see how this develops.

Wikipedia:

Corbin Fisher is an American film studio with a focus in gay pornography, based in Las Vegas, Nevada. The studio maintains a website at CorbinFisher.com; other web properties of the company include AmateurCollegeMen.com, AmateurCollegeSex.com, CFSelect.com, CorbinFisherLive.com, CorbinsCoeds.com, and ShopCorbinFisher.com.

I tried two of these sites, and they load just fine. I agree with Ryan Dean that this is a hack.

The hack could either be harassment (as suggested by one of the commenters on Zach's site) and/or an exploitation of a vulnerable portal for profit (the blog appears to have been hosted on wordpress, and thus distinct from the main site).

Also, the Advocate published this a few hours ago:

Porn sites are blocking California users’ access to their sites in protest of Proposition 60, a proposed law that would require all adult performers working in the state to wear a condom during filming.

Popular websites. including Kink.com, Pink & White Productions, Evil Angel, and Treasure Island Media are going on strike to raise awareness about the ballot measure, which will be voted on this November 8. Currently, visitors to these sites are barred from viewing all content, along with the following message: “Access Denied: This is what Californians will see on their favorite porn sites if Proposition 60 passes.”

There are a few problems with this "seizure."

  1. The DOJ seal is not quite right. When comparing it to the actual DOJ seal I noticed the rays emanating from the eagle's feet are different
  2. There is no such thing as a US government "Global Illicit Financial Team." The closest thing to it would be The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCen), but they have a different name and they would not be involved in this type of case.
  3. Secret Service would also not be involved and if they were their official seal would display
  4. Treasury would display their seal, not a bad facsimile of a badge and ditto for Homeland Security

"This story doesn't add up," said Thomas doubtingly.

I hope it is only a hack. However, how about this:

A quick search of the Wikipedia page you linked to reveals no agencies with the word "Illicit" in the title. When searching on the word "financial," the following eight matches occurred:

Although a search of the US Attorney's website does display a series of links to the Liberty Reserve case, there is no link to a press release or complaint against Corbin Fisher, Corbin's Campus, or any other variant of Corbin. Contrast that with the Rentboy seizure, where a press release displayed the day of the raid.

This might not be a hack. It could simply be a hoax.

If this is a legit seizure, why weren't CF's other sites seized? Again, this is happening on the same day that other porn sites are blocking access in California and putting up banners like this:

It does seem fishy but why hasn't Corbin fisher made any comments if it was indeed a hack? It's been more than a day...

As FreshFluff pointed out in her post, there's a decent probability that it is a protest of CA Prop 60.

Zach states the following in the comments section of his report. He raises a good point, if the site was hacked and not seized, shouldn't CF be quick to respond to clarify the issue? If this was a protest against Prop 60, why not state that outright like the other porn sites are doing? If it's a protest, shouldn't the main CF pay site be the one to use for such rather than a secondary blog that certainly gets less traffic? There's a lot of strange elements involved here. CF could clarify this matter by issuing a statement. But porn companies are not exactly known for transparency.

"As I noted below, the site does not appear to be hacked. And that image with all the federal agency badges is the same one used when the government seizes any domain. Also, it's been an entire day and Corbin Fisher hasn't responded to this in any way, nor have they removed the link to the blog from their homepage.

If the site wasn't seized by the government, Corbin Fisher is apparently OK with letting people believe that it was."

Based on the cache, the blog had been dormant for a good while. And it was never an especially trafficked corner of the CF empire. So I'm wondering how Zach (and a couple other porn bloggers) became aware of this apparent seizure. (I'm still inclined to believe this is a hack/hoax, but -- again -- will be interesting to track how it plays through...)

Or a way to drive traffic to the main site in hopes that someone subscribes when they are there.

If I learned the feds had seized a porn portal for unknown reasons, subscribing is about the last thing I'd do.

Of course, I don't find porn to be a turn on, so what do I know?

Zach has confirmed speculation this was a hack, not a seizure by the Feds. That's a relief.

UPDATE 10/20/2016:

Corbin Fisher has finally responded to news of their blog being seized, and they’ve provided the below statement to Str8UpGayPorn:

Corbin’s Campus has been inactive for some time now (we’re prepping a new blog that will be located on/built-in to Corbin Fisher itself, so have no real need for the Campus URL anymore). Since we’ve just been letting it sit there unattended to, it looks like someone decided to have a little fun with a wordpress vulnerability.

So, some of you in the comments were right—the blog was hacked, according to Corbin Fisher. However, as of this update, they still have the link to Corbin’s Campus up on their homepage, making it appear to visitors that their blog has been seized by the government due to a potential money laundering offense.
