It's really frustrating that these services exist under the miguided notion that it will "help" those that are likely being forced into conversion therapy, worst of all that it is under a banner of faith in which one of the key tenets is "love one another as I have loved you", but also that they think this hatred will heal the the USA. They think that being gay is gonna contribute to the imploding of America? Wait for the explosion of chaos that will ensue if Trump gets into power, not only for the states, but for the world.

This hate-a-palooza is indeed rallying troops -- basically for Nov. 8 election turn-out. These clowns are nothing if not transparent.

And since gay conversion therapy is medical malpractice (and consumer fraud), they now call it Xian counseling to hide behind claims of religious freedom. The jesus-christers are deplorable.

Someone official needs to look into their "success" rates purely on PICO model i.e. Transition and sustainability into heteronormative relationship, ongoing treatment needed, outcome of suicide, clarification of LGBT identity etc...use quantifiable data to end any sort of conversion therapy being legal once and for all.

I'm afraid in spite of the battles we have won, the war goes on. What I don't get is why? Why do they continue to hate us so much? Most of their horror stories and dire predictions about the evil LGBTQ communities have been debunked, and yet they waste their lives on hate.

Yes, despite the battles won by gays, we have to wonder how many "straight" folks still believe the things FORMERLY taught in the public schools. Gays were called "mentally ill" and violent merely for being gay.

Here is but one example:

Because they hate themselves.

There are many reasons, I believe, the leading one being internalized homophobia: A sizable number are self-loathing closet cases, who use virulent opposition to LGBT equality as a shield to say, to themselves and others, "See? I don't approve. That's not me." Many are in search of someone, anyone, to cast as being lower than they feel themselves to be, and Old Testament prohibitions provide an all-purpose excuse. Others are terrified of change and difference. And finally, a large number are simply stupid -- wanting to fit in, they follow like sheep.

Homosexuality is not a disorder. Since there is nothing to "fix," conversion therapy is by definition quackery.

There are studies about success-and-failure rates, but they're really superfluous. I'd even go so far as to say that requiring them is giving a measure of credibility to claims of homosexuality as a disorder. It ain't.

Apologies, didn't mean to imply I thought that homosexuality was a disorder, and I can understand that by suggesting quantifiable research into outcomes of conversion therapy could be misconstrued as giving credibility...what was I getting at was quantifying the negative impact it has on individuals who undertake such treatment in an effort to outright ban any quackpot treatment that is supposed to "fix" a person's sexuality.

Yes, I think so too. There's some research that's been done to quantify the damage that conversion therapy does...and that sure seems like beneficial study! :)

This is quite a notorious film today, but in 1961 it was treated as merely a companion piece to Girls Beware, which profiled heterosexual teen molesters (including killers) and was also produced by Sid Davis. Note how Sally winds up in the car with two guys, neither one with boys-on-the-brain.

Probably the seediest film of the decade was produced by the millionaire Charles Keating, famous for scamming elderly people out of their savings two decades later and costing the federal government three billion in the process. Money crimes are so much "lesser" than sex..

I tried conversion therapy on and off for about 2 years in my early 20s. Eventually I just saw through their bullshit, realized "a cure" didn't exist, and that majority of the testimonials people gave still had same sex attraction (most freely admitted this), and finally it was all rooted in religious opression anyway.

So I just decided to love myself regardless and stop trying to conform to what "society" deemed acceptable. I'm much happier now, and it probably helps that along the way I dropped religion altogether. I could either be miserable and want to kill myself, or love myself and be free. I'm glad I chose the latter.

"This is just to show you what's openly available on your newsstand. And just think: This isn't the worst material available!"

Was this actually shown during the evening while men were watching?

BTW, they have no trouble showing underage porn, including one boy who looks about 11. :( But "transvestite" porn? That was apparently too much, so they could only show the table of contents.
