It's been awhile since I've updated my nefarious medical activities. I think I'm done with joint replacements until this batch wears out. My knee replacement has been successful, with mild swelling and a little lateral numbness. The difference in mobility is fantastic! I feel like I can actually move.

I had a lateral bend at the knee, of about 17 degrees, that the surgeon was able to correct. I think I gained some height: Putting that straight rearranges the rest of me. I saw some people that I hadn't seen in about six months, and I noted that they all seem to have shrunk.

Now, with three hip replacements (well, only two of them permanent) and a knee: I'm off to the races. I walked to my car last night, which was parked in a handicap spot, using a cane. A policeman came over, checked the placard, looked at me, and decided it was okay for me to be there. "Just a spot check" he said. I'm glad he didn't notice the expired inspection date.

I took a friend to the doctor yesterday for a post-op inspection of his feet, which were operated on last week. He had obtained a handicap placard for me to put on my car for the occasion. Of course, every "handicapped" designated parking spot at the medical center was already taken, so I had to drop him off on his own at the door, and park far away.

I have a good friend with a mobility disability. He amazes me every time we travel together, he knows every shortcut, perk, trick there is. He is a total charmer and able to will people to accommodate without incommoding. But to your point, Charlie, our running joke is figuring if Walmart will have an open handicap parking spot. For some reason no matter how many spots they have, Walmart manages to fill every single one of them. I always have to drop him off at the front door.

@gallahadesquire - I'm thrilled to hear about your progress. I hoe (oops, Freudian slip) you are sporting a sexy cane, something with a little pizzazz! ;)
