NEIL HAMILTON (1899-1984) ON THE BEACH AT MALIBU, CIRCA 1926

During a film career that lasted more than half a century, Hamilton appeared in more than 260 productions. He was a prominent leading man in silent and early sound films, and played Nick Carraway in the first filmed version of The Great Gatsby (1926), a silent movie that is now lost. We knew him later as Commissioner Gordon in the Batman TV series of the 1960s.
