I remembered that all my pre-booked costs were non-refundable, so decided I'd take the risk. Flew through Customs without a single question from any customs officer and no secondary screening. In fact, the customs guys weren't asking anyone anything. I wonder whether it might be that I flew in direct to Montreal rather than Toronto. Anyway, glad to be safely here and not wandering the border looking for a way home :-)
