A NY State court upheld an Unemployment Insurance Appeal Board ruling which found that strippers are employees of the club in which they perform. This was in spite of the fact that the strippers set their own schedules and provide their own music and costumes. Unless overturned on appeal, this ruling could have far reaching consequences for club owners and promoters. It would require them to provide an array of benefits for their "employees" mandated by state law.

Very similar to a recent ruling on college interns. They have been judged to be "employees" of the university and entitled to full labor rights under the law, such as the right to unionize.

Yass I want to be president of the strippers Union of America
