Lochte and pals were into some nefarious when they were robbed, now the cover story falls apart?

The story emerges

It is early Sunday afternoon, six or so hours after the swimmers are seen on CCTV. Citing Mr Lochte's mother, USA Today and Fox Sports Australia report that four US athletes have been robbed on their way back from partying at Club France, part of the French hospitality area.

According to the reports, the swimmers got in a taxi for the Olympic village at about 0400. Speaking to NBC News hours after the story hits the headlines, Mr Lochte gives a vivid account of what happened next:

"We got pulled over, in the taxi, and these guys came out with a badge, a police badge, no lights, no nothing, just a police badge and they pulled us over. They pulled out their guns, they told the other swimmers to get down on the ground. They got down on the ground. I refused, I was like, 'We didn't do anything wrong, so I'm not getting down on the ground.'

Very mysterious. If they made up the story, why? What would be their motive?

The three probably intended to keep it to themselves. But Lochte told his mother, who then told the press. The rest follows from there.

There goes any endorsement contracts he might have had.

Why? Trump lies and makes up shit all the time, and apparently millions love him. At least Lochte is attractive and has some talent to speak of. I do agree this sounds more like naughty 17 YO boys off the chain for the first time rather than grown men with some knowledge of the world.

hmmm... the Brazilians should be worried about real crime, not something like this that sullies their reputation. It's the real crime that is sullying their country's reputation.

The video clearly shows a armed officer, be it private or police, pointing a gun into the taxi..then the swimmers being shown Getting on the ground with hands raised..I wonder if Brazil spun the tail saying the swimmers vandalized the gas station and that's why their security person has them on the ground and the swimmers then paid cash and they were let go..I saw this all the time in Mexico where the graft was horrific and when you were pulled over or stopped like this you always ask if you can pay the officer the fine..this tale is not over yet

Let this be a lesson....

When the shit hits the fan in a forgein country....take the FIRST flight home!

That motto has saved my ass a few times.....including that time in Istanbul

when I checked out of my hotel at 2 am....went to the airport ....and waited

outside for them to open the doors so I could book the FIRST flight home to

JFK at 6am. Smartest move I ever made.

Your embassy is useless....just Get Out FAST!

When you're hot, young, famous and can rock a Speedo like no ones business, what else are you going to do?
