Looks like Scorcese will finally get that long overdue Best Director Oscar (unless Frankie Muniz has a last minute directorial debut coming out). Uneven, but the overall effect of the movie is thrilling. Leo pulls it, despite looking so young! It's difficult at first to take Cate Blanchett seriously because she's playing the Great Kate, but damnit, if she doesn't eventually become Hepburn or at least a character.

 

Overall, an exciting moviegoing experience.

 

Scorcese's best picture since GoodFellas and vastly superior to the mess that was Gangs of New York.

This movie is about as exciting as looking at Dan Dare's butt. For me, it was a real bore! You only wish it would hurry up and end, and when it doesn't, I left!

Saw it this afternoon and thought the first 2/3 was brilliant. The ending was a downward trajectory into madness but then so was HH's life.

 

DiCaprio is excellent, with the right amount of sexual madness, brilliant instinct and cutthroat go for the jugular decisiveness.

 

The film editing is nothing short of brilliant as well. Some scenes took my breath away.

 

Go see it. This has Best Picture written all over it. As well as best director and best actor.
