I have a question and am hoping that the guys who frequant Vegas can help me out. I have heard about an entertainment type book for Vegas but can't think of what it is called. This isn't like the regular Entertainment books that many of us get for the year in other citites though. Does anyone know what I am talking about and if so can you direct me to the proper website on how to obtain this handy coupon book?

Thanks,

Greg

You're talking about the 'Las Vegas Advisor' website and forums...

http://www.LasVegasAdvisor.com

It's really the best site out there for info on Vegas, along with a really useful MC. If you sign-up for a year of access, they'll send you a booklet of coupons that definitely save you some cash. Everything from shows to hotels to food. It's all included.

Enjoy :)

Las Vegas Bargains

I always liked http://www.lasvegas.com/ for good rates on rooms, entertainment and the rest. It is a one stop site that came the closest to telling you what was available at a discounted price, which you could then reserve directly from the hotel, since doing it through the casinos own site (including shows, not just rooms), sometimes gets you other bargains.

For example, I got a suite with FREE (versus the usual paid daily) high speed internet access AND free tickets to the show of my choice (I picked Chippendales) for $39 a night at Rio, since I stayed three nights mid-week.

I found this rate on LasVegas.com and got the bonus freebies by booking on the Harrahs/Rio web site.

Good luck!

HA! I love Ron White too Chuck :)

I just bought his new concert solo-DVD and it's drop-dead funny. He's got great delivery and his material is just so easy to relate to... Very funny comic.

As for using my Vegas 'coopins:' If i haven't used them myself, i've given them away to friends. It's a pretty handy little item.

BTW, you DO have to pay for access to the site and to get the coupon book. It's worth it. Sign-up fees are low anyway. If you get to Vegas quite a bit (3-5 times a yr), it's a no-brainer.

RE: Las Vegas Bargains

Greg, Franco also offers very good advice. But since you didn't say when you would be in town or what type of discounts you're looking for it's hard to give you specific feedback.

If you're coming before Christmas there are amazing discounts being offered by the hotels. Just check their web sites or call. A close friend just booked a 3 night mid-day at the Palms for $64. x night while another booked a Friday & Saturday at the Hard Rock for $79. These are just a few examples.

RE: Las Vegas Bargains

Greg,

You didn't indicate if you're planning to have a car or would be looking for places near the strip. For a good, inexpensive hotel I've used Boulder Station. It's about equal distance between the strip and downtown. But, it's not a place to stay without transportation if you want to see the sights.

I stayed there for $50/night during the week. I really enjoyed their casino because they had affordable blackjack tables. In addition, they have movie theaters on-site and a number of good places to eat.

They do have a guard at the elevators to the rooms and you have to show a room key for access. That might be a problem if you're planning to take in-calls while there.

Boulder Station can be an excellent selection ut one must have transportation or be willing to take a taxi everywhere.

One Finger I live nearby are you still there? Maybe we can meet for a soda if you want.

Would love to get together but I'm currently not in the area. But, I will post in the Traveling Hoovillians section next time I venture out! Thanks for the offer.

RE: Las Vegas Bargains

You might want to check rates at the Orleans (on West Tropicana) or the Gold Cost (next to the RIO Suites, on Flamingo I think). Here is the link to the Orleans:

http://www.orleanscasino.com

You can also link from there to the other Coast properties. Both of these Coast properties have free shuttles to/from the strip. I like to stay at the Orleans since they have a nice (non-smoking) poker room that offers (modest) comps to poker players for rooms and meals. The rooms at the Orleans are clean and nice and you can usually get decent rates there mid-week. There is also a country western gay bar in easy walking distance just across the street from the Orleans in a small shopping area on Arville. I think it's called the Badlands Saloon. They offer free line dancing lessons (on Thursdays I think) that draws quite a crowd if you can put up with all the smoke.
