Meet the Fockers is going to be a smash. It is far superior to Meet the Parents. The movie belongs to Dustin Hoffman. He and Streisand are wonderful in their scenes together. Babs does not play Babs, but rather Roz Focker, mother of the hapless Gaylord "Greg" Focker (Ben Stiller) who is terrorized by father-in-law to be Jack Byrnes (Robert DeNiro).

 

Hours after seeing it, I still have a hangover from laughing so much.

 

It opens nationwide on Dec. 22.

 

...I guess these screenings are paying off for the studios. I post my thoughts on them all over the place!

This is one of the few movies in a very long time I'm actually anxious to see.

Nobody really cares. Even red states are going to go see this movie just because they want to have fun. Having her and Hoffman in it will help bring in audiences age 50 and above who are old enough to remember Funny Girl.

I think $13.49 is a great price for the DVD. I've used this company extensively for hard-to-find DVDs,CDs, and even some adult <gasp> products. They're very reliable. I was a little concerned the first time when their standard statement was to expect shipping in 3-4 weeks. The longest time I've had to wait (from order to receipt) was 5 days and that was using their standard (not express) service.

Anyone see the cast on Dateline last night? Being part of a group seemed to relax Babs. She didn't come off as nuts like she did on Oprah (though Dustin seems a bit whacky)

I havent seen it yet, but I am going with my best friend Mike...I know he will love it and I am so excited. Sometimes good jokes are just what the doc orderd.

It's been receiving very mixed reviews. Nearly everyone's complaining that Babs is underutilized. The funny thing is that they used to always complain that there was too much of her! I'm also disappointed that hardly any of them are appreciating Hoffman's performance.

 

It seems that they are forgetting that this is a lowbrow comedy, not some lofty ambitious work.
