TV show “Born This Way”

I don’t know how many of you are familiar with this show. I tried a search but couldn't find a previous thread about it.

It’s a reality show….wait!…don’t stop reading yet because it’s not your typical reality show. This is about 7 friends who are filmed hanging out, interacting with each other & their families, dating, and each has a full or partial extra copy of chromosome 21. They are all young adults with Down syndrome.

 

The scenes and interviews are funny, serious, informative, thought provoking and at times heartbreaking. One of the young women has started her own fashion business, another is engaged, and most of them are searching for someone to love who will love them in return. They are gentle souls living complicated lives.

Season 2 just began and while this won’t appeal to everyone here, if you haven’t seen it, give it a look.

I have a sister with Down syndrome. She was born before they had all of the early intervention protocols that they do now for babies dx'd with Down syndrome. Not a pretty picture.

I actually watched Season One of this show and it was so well done. The show provided insights on how families lived with a Down syndrome member and showed all of the positive and negative aspects they encountered. I highly recommend the show to everyone. I believe Season One had 6 episodes so it would be fairly easy to catch up on everything before the new season begins. Great show!
