Greetings, gents.

I seek your collective wisdom/cleverness.

I'm seeking suggestions on how to find a quick, clean, pleasant shower in midtown NYC.

Not of the golden variety.

Just a regular get-off-the-grime shower.

On a regular/routine basis, probably for about 6-8 weeks.

TheatreDistrict/Hell'sKitchen preferred.

Any affordable gyms?

Any of those pay-by-the-minute hotel apps?

Any entrepreneurial apartment dwellers willing to share their facilities?

I'm willing to pay a few bucks for each shower, but not so much that I might as well rent a room for the night.

I'm not familiar with gyms in those areas, but most NYC health clubs offer daily visitor passes. There are many hotels here that do not offer exercise rooms. I have never seen it, but I know people who love the huge gym at Manhattan Plaza. If you intend to be a regular visitor, I'm sure you could negotiate a 6-8 week deal with a gym manager somewhere in those neighborhoods.

Blink and Planet Fitness have $10 a month plans. I've never been inside one, but you might check those out. Not sure if they'd need an annual commitment or anything. One thing, if you say you're just looking to shower, they may think you're just looking to cruise the showers. I think a daily guest pass at NY Sports Club is $15.

I know PF has one-gym monthly memberships for $10. They're very no frills but they do have showers. For $20/month you can go to any PF in the country. The closest PF to where you're looking is on W 55 b/w 9/10.

NYSC used to offer a free month if you signed up online--you could see if they still do. That would cover a chunk of the time you need, and there are plenty of locations.

I bet it's more like first month free with one year contract. Just speculating.

Equinox (which have lovely showers and products) also offer a free week trial, but you have to be prepared to be bombarded with emails and harassed to join if you try that option..........

Only if you give them your real email address.

NYSC doesn't seem to have that free trial month. I used it a couple of times in the past when I took college classes to NYC and we stayed at a hotel without a fitness center. It was amazing! Currently they have a 5 days for $5 trial membership, and a $79.95 month-to-month.

Looks like PF is the best option for low-cost showers.

+1 on the Planet Fitness suggestion. Most clubs are open 24 hours a day, the shower area at the one I go to primarily (midtown) is for the most part clean, and it's only $10/month with no commitment. If you're looking at a regular place to shower, you can't beat this.
