Since the premature and untimely passing of Rentboy we have all been forced to use the awful dreadful M4RN site because, frankly, it is hard to work with only the great site rentmen.com. There are good clients out there who don't know rentmen exists but who do know M4Rn.

The site has numerous problems: 1. There are more scam artists and con schemes there than there are serious real clients. These types force us to spend a lot of time avoiding them and figuring out who they are. Can the site not protect us from these scams? I almost never get a scam on rentmen.

2. The site is confusing regarding travel cities. There is no way for real serious clients to know where we escorts actually are without looking really close at the ad. There is one home city and three travel cities but really no way for clients to tell where you are. The site is very poorly designed. I spend a lot of time responding to great inquiries from guys in my travel cites who think I am there. This is not the advertisers' fault nor the clients' fault. It is the sites' fault and they do not care. Their customer service is insulting .....

3. Rentmens' travel system works perfectly.

4. The M4RN site does not let us post rates which is stupid! The site is called men 4 RENT so why can't we state what the RENT is. I get inquires daily about what my rate is which requires time. It is not the clients fault. As I said they don't know rentmen exists where we can openly list our rates.

and we could go on and on.........

Mikey @ www.rentmen.com/magicmikeydc p.s. Yes there are other sites such as Backpage and craigslist or also the various massage site but.... to be very honest... Backpage is the lair of the undercover detective. Craigslist is the armpit of the world...dirty, disgusting and demeaning and , franky, the massage sites are all WAY overpriced. In these days of a reduction in biz post rentboy all of us escorts have to be conscious of our advertising budget.

Methinks Kufrol was being a tad bit sarcastic.

Well, that is the problem with posting on the Internet (here or on FB.) Sarcasm and parody today are getting harder and harder to spot. Don't you just hate it when your use of sarcasm has become so finely honed, that people think you are actually stupid? How many FB posts or recent news events need to be labeled with the disclaimer, "Not the Onion!"

Oh yeah!

And then there are the congresspeople who thought this was real:

And the esteemed former escort who, ON THIS VERY FORUM, thought THIS was real:

Regarding the observation by the original poster that some potential clients are not aware of Rent.men, I used to work in property management leasing apartments. In order to track the effectiveness of our advertising, we always asked callers how they heard about our community, and kept records of the sources. It always killed me when a particularly unsophisticated caller said that they had found us in the Yellow Pages. (Who still uses the Yellow Pages to find an apartment?) Having first determined that our community did not have what the caller was looking for, I would gently make a helpful suggestion that they would find infinitely more information by going on line to apartment specific sites like ForRent.com, Rent.com, Apartments.com, even Craigs List, or if they did not have computer access, at least pick up a free copy of Apartment Magazine at their local convenience store. Similarly, anyone who Googles "gay male escorts" will find a link to Rent.men among other options.

I think all websites travel cities are misleading. This is why we need a Grindr/Scruff version of rent-boy as a rebirth. People can clearly see when a person is 5 miles or 500 miles away.

The misleading thing about escort sites travel dates, is I feel it obligates an escort to put travel dates up before the trip is actually planned. You can't post a travel city on rentmen unless you include dates for it. Unless someone is being flown someplace by a company separately from escorting...it's pretty hard to come up with travel dates and stick with them when the sole purpose is meeting clients. Once it's confirmed there's clients, then the planning can begin.

I may post on my ad that I'm going someplace between the 21st and 30th. But, that doesn't mean I already have a flight and hotel booked and paid for, before I even know it's going to be worth the trip. It just means those are the dates I'm open to going there.
