Shaving/Hygiene Prior to Sex - Different Than Usual?

Hey folks,

 

I'm just curious. After trying several different routines, etc., I notice my preparations (shaving, hygiene, etc.) prior to sex are a bit different than usual, and I'm wondering if I'm the only one.

 

Here are some examples. (And I am providing details here, so be warned - don't mean to gross anybody out or anything, but I am curious. lol.)

 

Usually after a shower on a regular day, I shave my face, chest, pits, fingers/toes, cock, balls, ass, and crack. After finding myself occasionally nicking myself at inoppurtune times and in inopportune places (not often, but it's harmed a few otherwise-great experience), I now no longer shave my cock & balls on days I think I might have sex (such as when seeing an escort or other times when it could happen). I generally do it 1-2 days before, but not the day of, so there's a little more stubble that way, but less chance of any nicks or irritation. I also don't shave my crack or fingers/toes just in case of nicks.

 

I'm wondering if I'm being paranoid in doing this or not. I feel it's safer in a lot of respects. Don't have to worry about harming an important "part" prior to the experience, and also there are no minute cuts to worry about with oral sex. The downside is there is a little bit of stubble...not a ton...but how do those of you who like shaved guys react to that?

 

Also, while I normally floss, brush, and then use Listerine, for similar reasons, I don't usually floss the day of sex. (Though I usually eat light that day and both brush really good and use Listerine, so my mouth is still VERY clean...just no chance of cut gums this way even though that doesn't usually happen.)

 

Sooo, am I the only one who does things like this? Totally off the wall? What, already!? =oP

Wow! That's a *normal* day????? You really shave fingers/toes every day? Seems like an awful lot of work to me, but that's just me.

This is good, and is generally recommended in most safer sex guidelines. Skip the floss, for the same reasons you should skip the razor.

Only you know if this has been an issue, but look at ANY thread around here that discusses shaving the private bits and you'll see the biggest single issue is stubble. Even a little stubble. Have you tried Nair on "the day"?

I must say that I love your posts, because you are always asking for advise and comparing notes. Arent we here to make it more pleasurable all the time?

 

When it comes to mouth hygiene, you should remember one thing. Your mouth is one of the places in your body that heals the fastes. Any wounds, cuts or sores are no longer bleeding after a 40 minutes mark. Which means that you can floss, if you want to be safe, up to three hours previous to your appointment, brush one hour before, and you can stay assured that your mouth will be in top notch condition for having fun. Ask your dentist about this, and eh will be able to confirm or correct my assesment. (He gets asked that all the time)

 

When it comes to stubble, apparently the safer thing to do is to shave one day before. In one day (unless you are extremely hairy and active) you wont be able to grow that much stubble to make it annoying.

 

Since my cock is uncut and the head is EXTREMELY sensitive, what I find horribly innapropiate is when people meet me without shaving their faces. (One rough brush of stubble on my cock-head and I might be out of the game for days) But when it comes to licking a nice set of balls that have a little bit of stubble.... what the hell! After all it is a wan what I wanted, right? I just think it adds fun to the game.

It actually works out to doing the whole routine about every other day actually - not every day, but yes, I really do it. lol. The odd days I just use an acne wash, shave my face, and do oral care and deoderant/chapstick, etc., so it's not the full thing as I don't really need it every single day as long as I do the maintenance things - lol.

 

Sounds like I'm decently on base with what I'm doing. Regarding flossing, I admit I can't even recall the last time I've gotten my gums to bleed (MUCH better from when I didn't use to floss much at all), so I probably *could* technically floss now without worrying. I guess I just feel more comfortable not doing it and it's a psychological thing (no chance of them bleeding, so more peace of mind). Perhaps overly cautious of me, though as long as my mouth's clean, it's probably okay. Interesting information though - I didn't realize the mouth healed quite that fast.

 

And as to shaving down below, you make a good point. I always shave my face and all other easy parts the day of the appointment (as nicks there are easily noticeable, not usually in the way, and heal quickly anyhow). I don't like facial stubble either. But one day before sounds good for the more intimate areas, and hopefully that isn't too much stubble for people. I know I don't mind minor stubble for other people in those areas.

 

As to the Nair idea, Nair burns me rather badly (at least my nipples; wouldn't want to use it down below). I tried this other stuff (can't remember the name) that was supposed to be great for sensitive areas (still not supposed to use it on the genitals, but there was less danger as it was a more mild product similar to Nair), and it simply didn't work well for me. If there was a better option, I'd use it, but frankly, shaving is the best thing I've found.

Hate to say this, but I tried one of these (not this brand, but a very similar design) some time ago after hearing good thigns, and it really didn't do a thing for me, at least for my cock and balls, which is what I mostly need. Maybe it will for you or maybe something wasn't right with mine - I dunno. (I'd try it again, but I literally can't find the thing...lol). Let us know, and appreciate the link.

Hehe. I simply like the smooth look, so I guess I try to make myself as smooth as possible (within reason - I don't bother to do my legs or arms; too much to do, and it doesn't really bother me in those areas). Shaving the balls also makes them, for me at least, quite a bit more sensitive, and it just feels nice.

 

As far as a blade razor around the nuts, I was mortified when I found out people shave there too, but to tell you the truth, it's not that bad at all. (I use a Venus Divine and some Aveeno shaving cream). I've been doing it for more than a year I think and can count the times I've nicked myself on one hand (and most of those were when I was using the Mach3 Turbo down there instead...I've only had one nick with the Divine, and that was due to a very jerky movement on my part since I was hurrying). Even when I did nick myself, it always healed pretty quickly, and I'm getting better at not doing so (though I'm more prone to, I've found, when I'm nervous about it...like in preparing to see an escort or date or whatever...lol, hence the day before working out a bit better).

 

I actually find the idea of using a regular electric razor down there a little more frightening at this point... But I'll definitely say the experience isn't nearly as scary as the initial thought. LOL.
