Question for our legal experts...

What prohibits me from recording a conversation as long as I notify the party at the other end I will do so? I have run into so many situations in my lifetime in which my calls have been recorded, and then challenged. I had no backup other than my word. I am talking about insurance issues with 5 kids, legal issues, and bla, bla, bla.

It depends on where you live because Federal law and State law vary on this topic. If you live in a one-party state, then you can record without notifying them since you're a party to the conversation and you're aware of the recording. If you're in a all-party state, you must notify them that you are recording. Don't be surprised when they read you a script demanding that you stop recording and verbally confirm doing so before they will assist you in any way.
