What to do? I have a trip to Orlando coming up in a few weeks and it's the time when I'd contact people I'd like to hire while I'm there. But, it seems so crass. How do you say "hi, I feel awful about the situation, but I want to do the horizontal tango with you." For all I know they lost someone close to them. Life goes on but how much time should pass?

I think your feelings do you credit, sir. But it's not like your trip is tomorrow. I don't want to be insensitive. This is a major tragedy. But it's a truism that life goes on. What I mean is-people still have to work, rent has to be paid, children taken care of, and etc. Escorts will also have bills that need to be paid. They may even have a drop off in clients if tourists stay away because of the tragedy. I'm not saying things will be back to normal in the Orlando community at large-not just the gay community-for a long time. But I think you are ok to hire. I'd probably wait a week or so to contact escorts unless you are already in correspondence with them.

Have you already paid for your transportation and housing there? If not, perhaps waiting a while might be best. If you have, use it for good. Your positive presence might help a grieving community in ways you don't know yet.

Thanks to all. The trip is essentially business with a little fun on the side, so not the end of the world if I don't hire. I'll give it a few days and see how I feel. Maybe I'll spend the time doing something for the community. But, then, there's a couple really hot guys...

Go.

I think you underestimate the positive impact that you may have on a few individuals who may be having a difficult time with trust and need to be close to someone, if only for a couple of hours. I've always thought that good companions are not unlike therapists (like it or not) and you just might be able to reach out and make a big difference to someone who is struggling right now.

Life goes on. I think that a return to normal life is essential to recovering from a tragedy. Returning to normal life is also a demonstration that we, or society, will not be cowed by those who oppose us. At the very beginning, and middle (Lin-Manuel Miranda), and end (Frank Langella) of the Tony awards on Sunday, there were statements reflecting these beliefs. People in Orlando will mourn and grieve in visible ways for whatever length of time is appropriate for them, but pleasurable activities, whether it's enjoying a movie, or a restaurant meal, or an session with an escort, are a necessary part of resuming a normal life.

Go to Orlando!

Go, don't be afraid, be helpful, tip more than usual.

Look at me, I was halfway to Orlando, and already collected a deposit from a client THE MORNING of. I got to the airport to see it on the news.

I have put out that I'm available for anyone who needs a break from the overwhelming information. like I said in another thread, this past year...every other month it's some bullshit. Ebola, race war, terrorist, plane crash...it's always something that I think makes people feel, "hmmm, I'm too stressed to have sex today".

I'm trying to. I'll tip the waiters once another client contacts me. I won't want to spend money to eat out anywhere if my ad phones doesn't ring the whole trip. Ole dumb mofo messing up my mojo. I was in Tampa 6 years ago and an almost similar situation occurred outside a gay bar there. I'm so sick of every other time I come to Florida, my trip gotta be ruined by some bull shit. They need to send all these crazy mother fuckers to a mental institution in Russia.

I'll say one thing, the traffic here hasn't been as bad this week. I've actually been getting to places on schedule in Orlando.
