It is very difficult to find a well built escort or masseur that does not have a significant portion of his body covered with tats. What is the genesis of this and when will this trend be over? A few tats are ok, but now I see more and more men "covered" with tats.

I couldn't agree more with you. A couple of reasonably sized ones are ok, although I'm happy just looking at a beautiful body without any ink in the way. Covering that hunky body with tats ruins it for me. Probably a generational thing, but like you I'm hoping this fad will go away. Maybe we start seeing how bad they look as the body begins to sag later in life, guys will think again.

One more comment/question about tats, where does the vogue for having writing in various alphabets come from? I notice a lot of pornstars and escorts now have tats in Chinese, Arabic, Sanskrit, etc. I'm curious if they even know what it says, and of course I wonder what it says. Not "Allah Akbar" I hope. Pornstar Topher DiMaggio has one just above the navel, a favorite placement for these slogans. It appears to be either Arabic or Thai -- I'm not sure -- neither of which is part of his ethnicity as far as I know. A similar one adorns Vadim Black -- Arabic in the same location. Is he an Arab, or just think it's countercultural?

The other favorite place is to have something scrawled in a semi-circle across the top of the pecs just under the collar bone (see Christian Wilde above). These are generally something banal attempting to be profound. I find them silly and a distraction from the natural beauty of the man. Of course it's their body and they can do as they please. I'm just saying that it detracts from their hard won male pulchritude. I also think they'll feel regretful about it when they're 65.

Anyone who says, "hmmm, maybe it's a generational thing."

That just screams, "get off my lawn you darn kids!"

Yeah it's true, you're right. I'm old, at least older than you. As far as I know that doesn't invalidate my opinion. So I guess it is generational.

I hope this does not hold up their getting by the TSA.

There is an old saying that goes: Moderation in everything including moderation. That's about how I feel regarding tattoos. Granted I'm OLD but even I think one or two well place tats works for some guys. My real questions is how are these totally tattooed guys going to feel about them, years from now, when they become massive blue blurs.

Since I know that @bigvalboy likes pec and nipple tattoos here's a small selection for his enjoyment and for the pleasure of others such as @coriolis888 as well! Enjoy!

While I'm at it how about throwing nipple piercings into the equation as well...

I hire guys for their sensuousness and self confidence. If a tat or two enhances that in my hire, I'm all for it. But I have a real problem with great tats on bodies or body parts unworthy of them, like a bold tribal ring circling a puny bicep.

Years ago I was in Stella's in NYC with an Asian friend of mine when a big Brazilian bodybuilder /escort walked in. My friend lost it as the guy walked by. It seems the Chinese pictographs that ran down the back of his enormous triceps invited anyone to top him. As my friend noted either the tattooist did not actually know Chinese or the bodybuilder trusted him too much.

It's like pierced nipples on an overweight guy with titties. It just doesn't work.

Or maybe the big Brazilian bodybuilder/escort was indeed a bottom. :p

For the most part I dislike tattoos. Two hires I've seen in the past have gone from something on their arms, to out of control designs across their chests. Bye-bye. It's their body, their choice, but it's also mine to take my business elsewhere. One keeps asking when he's going to see him again, but how do you tell someone you don't like his newest tattoo?

Simple answer--"I'm not in a position to hire these days....I will let you know when I am".....and just ignore him from that point on.

You tell him the truth. He deserves as much. Tattoos very often elicit strong opinions. My guess is that you won't be telling him anything that he hasn't already heard before. My 2 cents...

I hope this does not hold up their getting by the TSA.

Before the body scanners which I opt out of when the metal detectors were still used a lot of the time I would get singled out for a second because I have Aramaic on my arm. Totally unnecessary and stupid. Oh you have middle eastern type characters inked on your arm? We're gonna feel you up. Oh you have English or Asian characters? You get a pass. If the TSA had a clue they'd know that in Arab and Jewish culture it's a no no for ink.

Now as for the op topic, I think it is a generational thing. I don't see too many folk in their 50s or 60s with ink. It seems at least to me its folk around my age and young who've embraced the culture of ink. For some it gives them an outlet to standout and for some their ink is personal. The art work tells a story or remonds them of an important time in their lives. Hopefully this fall I will be getting my 2 kitties paw prints inked on my wrist who passed last year. I loved those lil stinkers and for me it's a reminder for me on how special they are.

Hugs,

Greg
